Cody Balmer, the suspect arrested for arson after setting Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's house on fire on Sunday was reportedly angry with Shapiro after the state of Pennsylvania auctioned off Balmer's property. A court document of the auction from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania surfaced. Balmer will be charged with attempted murder, terrorism, aggravated arson, and aggravated assault, the Dauphin County District Attorney announced Sunday.
Balmer, 38, was identified as the suspect of the fire by Colonel Christopher Paris, the Commissioner of Pennsylvania State Police at a press conference on Sunday afternoon. Commenting on the incident, George Bivens, the Deputy Commissioner of Pennsylvania State Police said that Balmer was carrying a homemade explosive device and intended to cause serious damage to Gov. Shapiro's residence.
What The Court Document States
Balmer’s property, located on Canby Street in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was slated for public auction under a writ of execution related to a mortgage foreclosure. The notice, issued by the Court of Common Pleas of Dauphin County, states that the sale was to take place at the Dauphin County Administration Building, specifically in the Commissioners Hearing Room, at the corner of Second and Market Streets in Harrisburg.

Just something to think about.
Tyranny by Government although his actions were wrong. At the very least egregious government action of seizure and sale of the house it should only keep the back taxes owed and the owner should receive the equity balance of the mortgage. The owner receiving nothing is plain legalized theft by government.
I wonder if a GFM account is already set up in defence of Balmer.
People supported Mangione (even one FReeper I know of). And I’m guessing people will say Shapiro had it coming.
How do you figure this theft by government when even the excerpt makes it plain it was a mortgage foreclosure.
Way over the top trying to burn someone’s house down around their head. I also understand it’s heartbreaking to lose your home.
Will the Dims celebrate this arsonist like they did Luigi Mangione murdering UnitedHealthcare’s CEO Brian Thompson?
Josh Shapiro, what happened to Ellen Greenberg?
Good question.
I doubt the perp was clever enough to figure out that the mortgage company should have been his target.
Lol.
I don’t understand why burn down the governor house. It was a bank foreclosure according to the article.
That is my point—I don’t think the perp understood what a “bank foreclosure” is.
It is kinda like folks taking potshots at the car repo tow truck driver—when the auto loan company is the real issue.
For my psychiatry final exam in medical school I had to interview a guy who was detained walking on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn. He was on the way to Albany to kill the governor because of some money he thought he was supposed to get from the State of NY but didn’t.
There are a lot of crazy people - more than ever, now. Not everything involving a politician is political.
I’m laughing my a off.
I want pics of the house.
Property Tax is extortion. Unless you pay, the govt will steal and sell your property.
It’s a shame he didn’t just think to become a squatter.

I guess I would think about a spineless coward who in the middle of the night would sneak up to a family’s house throw in a fire bomb with the intent of burning the mom, dad, and kids alive. Then he would run away and crawl back into his hole.
That may be true, but that has nothing to do with this situation.
