The Dems’ Disastrous Refusal to Divorce the “Trans” Lobby
The New American ^ | April 10, 2025 | Selwyn Duke

When the history of our time is finally written, assuming there’s someone around to write it (AI?), one can imagine how the historians may interpret the Democrats’ obsession with pseudo-sex-switching.

“They believed boys could become girls merely by wishing it, and they persecuted those deviating from this orthodoxy.”

“It’s why the Democratic Party died.”

Depending on your point of view, that’s a very optimistic or very pessimistic vision of the future. But what it also is, many say, is a reason why the Democrats lost the 2024 election. After all, the MUSS (Made-up Sexual Status, aka “transgender”) agenda is the most bizarre of causes.

And the Democrats are wedded to it with, seemingly, “Till death do us part” devotion.

MUSS Albatross

Noting this, commentator Ned Cosby wrote Wednesday that the Democrats have a “transgender albatross problem.” Citing Kamala Harris as an example, he asserts that this issue “sank” her “and continues to sink the Democrats.” He then elaborated, reminding us that Donald Trump’s campaign

team used archived footage of the extremist left-wing VP sitting for an interview with a man posing as a woman.

In the interview, Harris claimed that she supported taxpayer-funded sex-change operations for California inmates desiring such procedures. Trump’s campaign created a 30-second ad where Harris calls for taxpayers to pay for “sex-change” surgery for California inmates desiring to appear physically as women .

Cosby then continued:

The widely watched ad divided the Democrat coalition of voters and independent voters. Even [somewhat liberal] Charlamagne tha God … denounced the idea of taxpayers paying for such outrageous surgical procedures. Just recently, a federal district judge ordered the Indiana prison system to provide “sex-change” surgery for a man who murdered a baby.

Also relevant here is a bill the Colorado House Democrats just passed...

People should watch out. The Democrats are not winning on this issue now, but they still could.

In the 2000's gay marriage lost every ballot initiative, but their was relentless pressure. In 2008, California voted against gay marriage. In 2010, everything changed, gay marriage initiatives won, and gay marriage had one victory after another. And not even the Republican Party is for the gay agenda, and won't even oppose gay marriage. So, the trans thing is never over for Democrats. They can still win overwhelmingly.

You have correctly explained why the Democrats cannot give up on the issue.

In their eyes “progress” means destroying the family and family values—and that is not negotiable.

But the reality is they will probably win.

My crystal ball is foggy these days.

This battle is just getting started.

It will probably be a war fought for decades—could be even centuries.

This reasoning is not mine but I saw it on a Twitter post:

To reverse course on the trans issue people who had pushed this ideology on kids would have to admit participation in unthinkable barbarity.

Participation in mutilating children so they will probably never have sex or certainly never have their own children.

To protect their psyche those promoting trans ideology can only continue believing they are right.

They might also be worried about going to prison for it.

I am convinced that there will be something even more bizarre introduced by the leftists in the next few years. Pedophilia normalcy is my guess.

Moms (and Dads) don’t like their daughters being beaten by boys in sports. That is the big difference between this and homosexual marriage. And I hope it is a difference that will make a difference.

Yeah, by cheating

The trans issue just isn’t a reality and any normal thinking person knows this. The opposition to it is huge but mail in ballots, box stuffing and voting machine switcheroos make it seem like it’s a popular issue. It is not. Let Dems die on this hill. I’ll even plant a rainbow flag on the mound, just so nobody forgets why they died

Oh no. Let the democrats defend that hill. Trannies, homosexual child grooming, killing babies, illegal alien gangsters.... Democrats are for evil, saddle them with it and let them lose.

My recollection, like yours, is that same sex marriage was defeated at the ballot box, even in liberal states such as California.

But I don’t think gay marriage initiatives ever won. It was the courts imposing same sex marriage which made same sex marriage legal in all 50 states.

You are right, nobody ever speaks out against homosexual marriage anymore.

It’s funny to think, if you go back and see the congressional vote on the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996, you would be surprised at the number of liberal Democrats who supported that legislation.

Back then it was ok for liberals to oppose same sex marriage, even if they were on board with other aspects of the homosexual or LGBT agenda.

Nowadays, we aren’t supposed to say anything about that issue, lest we be charged with bigotry and being behind the times and all that.

Yes we can say we opposed same sex marriage, in places such as Free Republic. But in the larger world, it’s just not allowed. In our politics, conservative Republicans never mention that subject anymore.

As relates to this “trans” thing, it’s still allowable for mainstream Democrats to oppose various aspects of the “trans” agenda, such as males playing on female sports teams. Gavin Newsom is one who has publicly taken that position.

But just as it was inconceivable back in 1996, that homosexual marriage would one day be legal in all 50 states, today it is inconceivable that we must mandate “trans” medical procedures; that somehow it will eventually be deemed mandatory; that denying such procedures will be considered the same as denying gall bladder surgery or heart surgery to patients with those medical problems.

Indeed, there has been at least one federal lawsuit filed, against a state which has banned these procedures for minors.

As we saw with homosexual marriage, all it takes is a handful of liberal judges, to force feed an issue through our culture. We may see “trans” force fed and mandated in all 50 states. Time will tell.

The same is true of abortion, they can’t admit that it is murder.

In 2008, California voted against gay marriage.

And a gay judge ruled the law unconstitutional under California’s constitution. So voters then passed a constitutional amendment protecting normal marriage. When challenged in court, the democrat governor and AG refused to defend the state’s constitution.

But, the gay marriage thing is/was totally different. The U.S. Constitution requires every state to recognize the official acts of other states. As soon as one state recognized ‘gay marriage’ all other states had to acknowledge that the two men or two women were married when they moved a non-gay marriage state.

Trans is different in that respect. California may allow pretend men to check F on their drivers license but when he moves to Idaho, his license will be checked M.

“You have correctly explained why the Democrats cannot give up on the issue.

Also, if they back down, they’ll have to admit the previous position was immoral and probably criminal, leading to possible criminal charges.

It took ownership of the Exective Branch, with President Obama in charge, as well. The Executive Branch had opposed “gay marriage” in court, and won. Then President Obama switched sides and called on the Suprmeme Court to grant cert (hear the case), which the Supreme Court almost always does when the executive calls for it. When the case went to the Supreme Court, the Obama administration argued *for* gay marriage as a civil right, a position they had taken the reverse of just a couple of years earlier.

Voila! Gay marriage is forced upon the nation, a position exactly opposite of what President Obama ran on.
