Students who violently protested Israel now facing felony charges

Twelve students who participated in a violent antisemitic protest at Stanford University in 2024 have been charged with felonies, according to a Thursday announcement.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office announced that the protesters were charged for "breaking into a Stanford University campus building last year, barricading themselves inside, and vandalizing administrative offices." Many protesters across the nation continue to face penalties for the violent and destructive anti-Israel demonstrations that swept college campuses since the start of Hamas' war on Israel, as investigations have revealed administrators allowed and at times supported pro-Hamas events.

"Dissent is American. Vandalism is criminal," Santa Clara District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in the press release. "There is a bright line between making a point and committing a crime. These defendants crossed the line into criminality when they broke into those offices, barricaded themselves inside, and started a calculated plan of destruction."

Almost all of the demonstrators were former or current Stanford University students between the ages of 19 and 32, the attorney said. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage was reported as the protesters "broke windows and furniture, splashed fake blood, and disabled security cameras."

Good! Peaceful protests are protected; violent ones are NOT.

They should be treated the same as Nazi sympathizers after WWII.

“Dissent is American. Vandalism is criminal,”

The Constitution protects the right to peacable assemble and petition the government.

Without the protection of the courts to violently riot, the protests of the Left all fall apart and do nothing.

“Boy, that was quick”

No kidding I wonder what prompted the DA to finally do something. Smells like something is afoot. This is uber liberal Santa Clara County.

This is the way it should have been handled in the 60s.

Note, though, that the charges made are for property damage.

In the George Floyd riots, property damage was routinely overlooked. And in places like California, as long as you steal below a certain amount you won’t be prosecuted.

So the idea that violent protests are not protected is not exactly the case, depending on the color of your skin and other political factors...

Good. Send the little bastards to federal prison for 20 years. Not even the Soros goons will be willing to accept that risk.
