On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher discussed his meeting with President Donald Trump and said that Trump was very receptive to criticism and said, “I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk with Donald Trump.” But “it doesn’t matter who he is at a private dinner with a comedian, it matters who he is on the world stage.”
Maher began by saying that Trump was much different than the person who had tweeted negatively about him the day before the meeting and Trump wants respect, like everyone does.

I think it’s a good first step in people from opposite sides of the aisle learning that the other isn’t the caricature that the media paints them. Although, first, one has to turn away from the extreme, Loony Left, which Mahar did some years ago. There’s always a few Leftists who are a bit more down-to-earth and open-minded. And eventually, many of them come over to the Right.
I’m of the opinion that there are two Bill Mahers. And you never know which one will show up. One Bill Maher is a typical slimy “progressive”. The other is a thoughtful classical liberal.
Maybe it’s a twins thing. Maybe one is a robot.
It would take a long time for him to convince me he’s no longer a leftist shill. His past is going to haunt him for years if he actually changes. I don’t trust him, not one bit.
My thoughts, as well. In addition, he is an attention addict.
One thing that has impressed me about Maher is that he takes absolutely no crap from those who support Islamic terrorists. Such a person on his show might say something like: “Yes, violence is wrong. But Palestinians have been abused for so long. Blah, blah, blah.”
Most leftie talk show hosts will say something back like: “Well, you do have a point there.”
But not Maher. He shuts them down, hard and fast.
Maybe that’s his only redeeming quality. Nevertheless, it’s pretty amazing.
Geraldo Rivera Gushes Over Trump’s ‘Brilliant’ Tariffs Move: ‘You Can’t Beat This Guy’
Zachary Leeman, Apr 10th, 2025, 9:03 am, Mediaite
Geraldo Rivera claimed President Donald Trump “suckered” the world into thinking he was on a “suicide mission” with his tariffs,
Trump announced on Wednesday that he was putting a 90-day pause on many of the tariffs he had imposed just days before. The change in course came as the markets took major hits. The president paused some tariffs, but raised others — including on China.
Rivera claimed Trump “ambushed” China, which is now facing a 125% tariff from the United States.
“I believe that he ambushed China,” he said. “I believe that he suckered the whole world into believing that he was going to go down in this harakiri, this suicide mission against the world. I think with him it’s so much spontaneous, but I believe it evolved. I mean, Monday, so many people were feeling terrible pain. The markets were tanking. It was no end in sight. People were watching their 401Ks, their IRAs disappear.”
Rivera added that he couldn’t “understand” Trump targeting the European Union and other nations in similar fashion to China, but he was convinced of his former friend’s “brilliant” plan during a meeting with a financial insider friend. Rivera added that he feels “sorry for all the people who chickened out and sold out” amid market uncertainty.
“We all are talking. ‘Oh my God, this is awful, but we’re doing the right thing. You have to have courage. You have to stick it out.’ I went to my Twitter followers. I said, please don’t sell. This is on Sunday and Monday. Please don’t sell unless you absolutely have to. And then, you know, look what he does. Surprise. You know, this is why Trump is triumphant. This is why you can’t beat this guy,” he said.

Also makes me think of what scumbags Obama and Hilary are. Two self impressed jerks.
There have been reports like this about Trump for years and years. He’s a big and complicated personality—and yes, also a narcissist—but a real human being who cares about people and has maintained many decades-long friendships.
I wonder which of those two was attractive to Ann Coulter.
Bill issued a caveat. He still thinks Trump is doing it all wrong, despite evidence that his idols Clinton and Oboma were disastrous, grifting narcissists.
“ Maher began by saying that Trump was much different than the person who had tweeted negatively about him the day before the meeting and”
Same person. What a narcissistic person this Maher is. I think I can’t watch this.
“ there are two Bill Mahers. And you never know which one will show up. One Bill Maher is a typical slimy”
Anyone who doesn’t have to deal with a narcissist in the most self preserving way, the most manipulative people on the planet, will miss that, yes, he acts like different people and you never know who you are dealing with
Not from one interview to the next but one segment to the next
Why did Maher do this? This and the Bannon?
Not for me. I know both these guys. I don’t need the disgusting bill Maher interpretation
The answer will guide one to know which Maher to expect, I imagine
I don’t kk now, I have no need to waste my time with it. I have a garden to set up.
“ Bill issued a caveat. He still thinks Trump is doing it all wrong, despite evidence that his idols Clinton and Oboma were disastrous, grifting narcissists.”
He is playing to his ignorant audience who hate Trump and will be sore at Maher for admitting Trump is the president
Hey Bill, in case you didn’t know it, Clinton and Obama are psychopaths and narcissists. Trump is neither. He is a very competitive person, and some see that as narcissism, but I don’t think that’s what he is, or at least, not in a malignant way like Obama.
“Also makes me think of what scumbags Obama and Hilary are. Two self impressed jerks.“
Why? Because Maher is a self impressed jerk?
Because Trump knows who he is he’s not depending on other people’s opinions
He cannot be a narcissist and have friends and cares about other people
He’s an example of one who can and does. Different types of narcissists.
Thanks loved his take on the dinner.
