The Islamic regime is weak and teetering on its own structural flaws, but no one would know it by the rhetoric coming out of Iran. In fact, just as Moscow did before the collapse of the Soviet Union, Tehran is deflecting blame for troubles at home and engaging in double-talk abroad.
Ask any Iranian observer and they will tell you that obfuscation has been standard practice of the regime since the Islamic Revolution.
While U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff is preparing to meet his Iranian counterparts in Oman this Saturday, Tehran continues to quibble over whether the two will ‘talk or ‘negotiate’ or whether they are ‘indirect’ or ‘direct’.

Under the “Reagan Doctrine,” the United States provided overt and covert aid to anti-communist guerrillas and resistance movements in an effort to “roll back” Soviet-backed pro-communist governments in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
If you mean talks collapsing, yes
“That’s me in the corner
That’s me in the spotlight
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don’t know if I can do it
Oh no, I’ve said too much
I haven’t said enough”

Nuclear weapons is a cover. Iran either has them — after the years and years of claiming they were only a month or two away — or they do not have them, and after all this time during which they could have had them, not having them means they didn’t try.
Regardless, if Iran were to agree to forgo nuclear weapons and even allow inspection, it would not satisfy the US. The US wants to dictate Iranian foreign policy, which right now means helping the Houthis and the US wants that stopped, and is using nuclear weapons as an excuse to take all sorts of anti-Iran measures.
It would be such a shame if the Iranian regime was brought down. The people might just execute all those radical Islamic judges. They might even ban Islam and it’s teaching outright. A real loss to our understanding of the religion of peace. /s
Between having Iran cornered, and China boxed in, I’m a little bit apprehensive. Better to corner one rat at a time?
That’s how Bin Laden appeared on the scene.

There are no shortage of “excuses” to take all sorts of anti-Iran measures. Pretty much everything they do is reason enough.

Not many remember that, Reagan was extremely aggressive in using military power against the Russians, everywhere, and all of the time.
Some here have started trying to portray him as some sort of peacenik, no friction kind of guy who was always trying to avoid violence.
History says Reagan’s US arms buildup was a huge deterrent.
It was, but his immersing Russia in warfare and military challenges all around the world was a part of that military buildup, he wasn’t just buying things and warehousing them, Reagan was aggressive.
The Iranian delegation, headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in the Omani capital, Muscat. Iran and the United States will hold high-level talks in Oman on Saturday aimed at jump-starting negotiations over Tehran’s fast-advancing nuclear program, with US President Donald Trump threatening military action if there is no deal.
Iranian media reported that Iran and US delegations have arrived in Muscat. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is leading the Iranian delegation, while the talks will be handled on the US side by Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff.
Iran is approaching the talks warily, skeptical that they could lead to a deal and suspicious of Trump, who has repeatedly threatened to bomb Iran if it does not halt its nuclear program.
