MrBeast attacks Trump’s ‘brutal’ tariffs, claims it’ll be ‘way cheaper’ to make his Feastables chocolate bars overseas

MrBeast is the latest high-profile figure to attack President Trump’s punitive tariffs, which he says will make it “way cheaper” to produce his ethically sourced chocolate brand Feastables overseas.

“Ironically because of all the new tariffs it is now way cheaper to make our chocolate bars we sell globally NOT in America,” the YouTuber, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, wrote on X on Tuesday.

Donaldson noted it would be cheaper to produce his popular candy abroad because “other countries don’t have a 20%+ tariff on our cogs.”

Feastables products are “designed” in Donaldson’s hometown of Greenville, North Carolina, and produced in Peru and the US, according to the brand’s website.

Here is the money shot,

While Donaldson claimed his brand pays farmers a living wage and uses fair trade certified beans, he admitted the “random price hike was pretty brutal.”

The candy industry has in large part fled to Mexico because of US sugar pricing and lack of compensating tariffs.

So produce them over seas. Sure the people here don’t get wages but money is still transferred from overseas as profits to an American company. In the end it is still bringing money back to the USA. Long term the USA benefits.

Produced in Peru? So instead of making them overseas, he’s making them over in South America? This is a really a stupid article.

He is a YouTuber that is wildly popular with kids. Some of my grand boys watch him.

What I want to know is what happened to his scandal?

A few months ago it turned out one if his producers and show creators who he had been with since he began had some pretty serious PEDO claims against him.

I supposed it is entirely possible for some things it could push manufacturing overseas - if tariffs on imported items to manufacture certain goods could make it cheaper to manufacture the entire item overseas and then just pay the tariff on the finished product. But how many things could that apply to?

“Isn’t some of that also dated back to sugar embargo against Cuba? Is that still helping anyone?”

I believe the US sugar effort was made to protect the Florida sugar industry.

Unfortunately, candy production has been relocated.

Candy production is one of those things that can done with automated equipment.

As I’ve been saying, we shouldn’t be importing:
1. stuff that can be made and packaged by automated equipment
[we should only be importing high comparative advantage products]
....

BS. Cocoa bean crops have been disastrous over the past few years.

One of the biggest cocoa bean growing nations is Brazil which has gone outright communist so I don’t see why Mr. Beast feels the need to be supporting oppressive regimes that inprison ideological opponents and enforce domestic slavery.
