In the mid 1960s a pedophile was caught while working as a scout master. This was not reported to the police. A group of fathers invited him to one of their houses and they beat him to death. His body was disposed of. His wife and son moved away without making a fuss.
I would not necessarily believe this, but I knew one of the fathers involved who was a combat veteran who saw a lot of action. I am sure that this was a true story. He and the others involved are mostly dead now. This type of thing was sometimes handled differently more than 50 years ago.
