Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki Heavy Industries has revealed its latest concept, Corleo, a four-legged robot powered by hydrogen and equipped with artificial intelligence, designed to be ridden much like a horse. The prototype was showcased at the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, drawing attention for its blend of clean energy and robotic design.
“Robot horse” built for varied terrain
According to Kawasaki, Corleo is designed to operate on rough and varied terrain. The machine walks on four independent robotic legs, allowing it to move with balance and stability across different surfaces. The company states that each leg can move separately, offering a smoother ride on uneven ground.
Hydrogen engine powers electric movement
Corleo is powered by a hydrogen engine. The company has confirmed the use of a 150cc hydrogen motor that generates electricity to drive the robot’s four legs. Kawasaki describes the vehicle as an “off-road” mobility platform that uses clean energy to reduce environmental impact.

That creeps me out no end...
Robot horse barrel racing and steeple chase in our future
This would complement my ‘81 GPz 1100 beautifully.
Someone will buy it.
People will buy anything to stick out.
Not very useful militarily, based on STAR WARS. Toss an Argentine bolo around the legs and they face plant. I wonder if a vine would do the same.
And then they can put two wheels on it.....
An obvious question is: What is the advantage over an actual horse?
Less poop.
Way cooler than a Segway.
No grooming.
No shoveling.
Why?
“ What is the advantage over an actual horse”
No feeding, watering or dealing with craziness.
Its the new minibike fad!!
Many moons ago we used horses to check fence lines and move cattle from place to place. I always loved horses, but they are VERY expensive to own/care for. Nowadays it seems 99% of people use a ‘side by side’. They can haul material and are much cheaper to own.
Honestly, I am intrigued by these. If they get one locally I will go check it out.

Looks like it would be fun. To bad its powered by hydrogen where would you even find some?
The don’t mention speed.................
It looks like something that can be trained or programmed, but never actually domesticated, in the way most people define that term.
**In other words, it looks like something that will be impressive from an engineering perspective, lots of fun until it begins to stalk you down, and no closed wooden door can stop it from advancing closer!
