France’s trade minister said the European Union’s response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs could be “extremely aggressive” amid increasingly heated rhetoric from Paris.

Speaking ahead of crunch talks in Luxembourg, French Minister of Foreign Trade Laurent Saint-Martin said that Brussels must consider all options in the trade dispute with the United States.

“We must not exclude any option, on goods, on (American) services and open the European toolbox, which is very complete, which can also be extremely aggressive in return,” the minister said per Le Figaro.

Macron sure does a lot of talking for a leader of a country being overrun by goat rapers.

Maybe not wise for France to bring up the efficacy of their national tool boxes while discussing auto imports and exports.

Macron will wave two white flags instead of just one.

French subsidies, tariffs and some outright bans on American products. Then there’s the EU safety codes designed to keep non EU produced goods out of the EU no matter what. The sad thing is Canada would rather play with the EU than work with America. I guess the Canadians forgot which country fought in Holland at their side. Hint, it wasn’t the Germans, Italians, Swedes, or French.

Saint-Martin pointed to “anti-coercion” measures within the EU code, which he said could freeze access to European public markets or even prevent U.S. companies from investing in the trading bloc.

Macron’s popularity is under 30%. And he tries to jail his opponent and rule her out of the next election. Let France fund the war in Ukraine.

Both the EU and America would suffer economically. Neither needs chest-thumping about their side winning this.

In 2023, the European Union (EU) tariffs on U.S. imports varied depending on the product category. The EU imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the U.S., with rates reaching 25%. Additionally, the EU maintained tariffs on politically sensitive goods, including whiskey, peanut butter, motorcycles, and orange juice, ranging from 10% to 50%.

These countries’ socialist governments set up to drain their bank accounts, and make up the shortfall by tariff-ing the U.S. coffers dry. Trump turned their tariff model against them with his own tariff model designed to drain their coffers dry.

We’ll see who has bigger ones.

Oh ya, much better to do nothing, pretending to work to a solution and give credit to bad faith arguments and lies from the EU on their unfair and destructively intentioned trade polices against the US.

The time for naivety is over, they are not our friends and they have not dealt fairly with us. The EU will not begin to do so until they realize we mean business, that means the time for niceties is over.
