Trump tariffs based on massive error, conservative think tank says
AXIOS ^

The formula used by the Trump administration to levy reciprocal tariffs contains a serious math error that over-inflates the impact by about a factor of four, economists at the American Enterprise Institute said. Why it matters: The conservative think tank says the error led to tariff rates massively higher than they should have been to achieve the goals the administration sought.

Here we are. A stunning display of incompetence — someone handed Trump numbers so catastrophically wrong, so wildly detached from reality, it borders on madness. The result? A national panic that triggered a market crash of historic proportions — trillions wiped out in mere days. This isn’t just a mistake. It’s outright mad.
It’s time for Trump to confront the source of this disaster and say the words that made him famous: “YOU’RE FIRED!”
But this goes far beyond a firing. When you look at the scale of the damage — the chaos, the collapse, — this isn’t just incompetence. It’s worse. Whoever fed Trump these clownish numbers didn’t just fail him. They failed America.

Ok - first... “Conservative think tank”? Who is “AEI” and what makes them qualified to speak on this and by what measure are they to be labeled “Conservative”?
Second - IF (and that is a big if) this claim is somehow correct... then is it not reasonable to then question if the “error” was intentional?

Any surprise a Zeeptard, globalist freak would post an attack like this?
You care more about attacking Trump than the fact your dumpster fire of a country has banned the leading opposition candidate for President.
In six months, the US economy will be booming and Trump will end up being viewed as the greatest President since Lincoln.
Meanwhile, the EU hellhole will continue to rot under leftist and globalist leadership.

Are you really this stupid, or is this an act?
Bad judgement #1: Axios is a Democrat haven.
Bad judgement #2: You can't see how stupid Axios is.
Bad judgement #3: You somehow believe Trump does not know what he is pushing.
The numbers include the trade imbalance factor over time and the difficulty overhead for a US firm to do business there. Several videos have been floated here showing how these numbers are legitimate for the time value of lack of reciprocal trade in each relationship.

You're protesting Trump putting American businesses and workers first and having a hissy fit because you know how much tariffs (or truly free and fair trade) is going to screw over your hellhole of a country.
Trump is right that the EU has been taking advantage of this country for decades with one-sided tariffs.
That's ending. Deal with it.

Uh, no. I appreciate your post #1. But you need to say more. Why are Trump’s tariff calculations so very wrong? A brief, yet specific summary by you would be most helpful.
No disrespect meant. But I’m not going to read any articles pointed to by fear-mongering alone. Because if I did, I’d have no time for anything else.
I don’t think I’m alone in this thinking.
