Ahead of a scheduled event on the UC Davis campus on Thursday, a squabble occurred between protestors and supporters of a conservative speaker, the university said.

The UC Davis chapter of Turning Point USA, a registered student organization, invited right-wing political commentator Brandon Tatum to speak at the Memorial Union Quad at 1 p.m. Advertisement

The university noted that Student Affairs coordinated with Turning Point USA, Safety Services and other departments to create a safety plan ahead of the event.

Years back, state actors (actors) at UC Berkeley were found guilty of violating 1st Amendment free speech applied to the states by the 14th Amendment (14A).

In other words, if UC system has not learned from Berkeley consequences of abridgment of free speech, then any actors who actively supported Davis protest need to pay a stiffer settlement than Berkeley actors presumably did imo.

That being said, if Brandon Tatum gets a 14A settlement, then just as it wouldn't be surprising if California taxpayers ended up paying the Berkeley settlement, taxpayers might also pay a possible Davis settlement, effectively defeating the purpose of 14A protections imo.

The only thing the article got right is there were no arrests. And why is that?
