Shocking bodycam shows cop's evil act towards man sitting on grass making phone call(Dough boys)

Shocking bodycam footage revealed the moment Texas police officers shot a man in the head with pepper bullets as he sat on the grass outside of a cemetery.

Guadalupe County officers were seen in the footage on June 27, 2021, approaching now 44-year-old Ronald Smith, who was sat cross-legged on the grass, with weapons held out in front of them pointed at Smith.

Smith's attorney, Andres Cano, told DailyMail.com: 'He's waiting for his wife to come get him and he sees this [guy] running across with a gun pointed at him, yelling shrieking, shouting.'

'Within ten seconds, another one rolls up and jumps out and they're pointing guns at him. You know, he's terrified... He's freaking out, he calls 911 on them,' Cano said.

'Smith is frozen. He's kind of frozen by fear and one of the deputies' switches to a pepper ball gun.'

Bodycam footage showed one officer appear to take a moment to switch over to an orange-colored weapon, before Smith was shot in the head with the pepper bullet.

Cano said that Smith had been exercising during the Covid-19 pandemic, when moments outside were especially cherished.

'He'd go out in the countryside, for walks, two- or three-hour walks, to stay in shape and to keep mental sanity,' Cano said. 'And that's what he [was doing].'

A man was outside minding his own business during the Covid “crisis”

Everyone involved with illegal orders, and enforcing them should be punished but since it did not happen it never will in the future.

I personally want to see a bunch of Governers and medical “experts” who abused their emergency powers and lied to the american people punished severely.

I think that bad cops should be personally liable for their bad behavior. But even more, I’d like to see Police Union Pension funds by liable for bad behavior by officers employed by the force. Make ALL the previous cops take an immediate hit in their retirement income because Joe-The-New-Cop screwed up big time. The police ought to police themselves and they ought to be getting rid of the bad cops (they know who they are).

A year in the county jail General Population is all that is needed to teach most cops what Respect for their Fellow Man really means.

Maybe 70 years. I don't think these authoritarians will learn their lesson in this lifetime.

Every cop wannabe should be cuffed, stuffed and spend 48 hours in a cell before he is given a badge and gun.

Texas man sues deputies who shot him while on the phone with dispatchers

Kelly Wiley
Sun, March 30, 2025

Attorneys for the deputies seen on video did not respond to KXAN. But said in court records — the deputies “did not know that Smith was unarmed,” and they “acted reasonably based on the information they had at the time of the encounter.”

University of Texas Law professor Jennifer Laurin said she has mixed thoughts on what the video shows.

“On the one hand, it appeared that the officers had an inclination to reach for some less extreme tools in their training toolbox,” Laurin said. “On the other hand, it is significant in terms of being sort of contrary to principles of de-escalation that the first point of contact between the police and Mr. Smith, once Mr. Smith was stationary, was sort of peak force threatened.”

The federal lawsuit alleges Saenz and Gonzalez not only used excessive force but also “worked to assert a bogus criminal charge” against Smith after shooting him.

The footage shows that deputies first considered arresting Smith for allegedly running across people’s property, but after asking neighbors, they found none wanted to press a trespassing charge. The footage shows Saenz then telling Smith he is not being arrested but will be placed under emergency detention to be medically evaluated. In the end, deputies opted to arrest Smith and charge him with evading arrest, which was later dismissed.

“They are Monday morning quarterbacking: why do we have this guy? What can we charge him with?” Cano said. “They are trying to justify, retroactively, their conduct.”

The original lawsuit filed in 2023 was against all three deputies seen on body camera footage and the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office. The claim alleged malicious prosecution, false arrest, and excessive force.

Court records show a judge dismissed the claims against Guadalupe County and one of the officers who participated in Smith’s arrest.

The court is allowing the excessive force claim against former Deputy Saenz and Deputy Gonzales to proceed to trial.

It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall to hear the reason the officers decided to interact with this citizen. Guess we’ll never know.

This case has been slow walked and allowed to drag for about 4 years. Meanwhile, the victim, who used to walk three miles a day, because he enjoyed being outside, is still traumatized, and still cannot view photos of the incident.
He no longer wants to go outside of his home.

Cops are not your friends. Learn it. Live it. They are paid mercenaries to the highest bidder on a power trip.
