Military vehicles meant to deter and detect migrants ..

EL PASO, Texas – As of this week, eight-wheeled armored fighting vehicles known as Strykers have been deployed to the border for the first time in more than a decade as part of the Pentagon’s support of Customs and Border Protection.

...

two are now stationed in the El Paso sector, with more Strykers expected to be deployed to other areas along the border in the next few weeks.

One of the Strykers is positioned to give a bird’s-eye view over Juárez, Mexico, a major smuggling corridor known for its high number of "gotaways," illegal migrants who manage to escape border patrol agents.

...

Strykers are being used here to assist Border Patrol agents with surveillance, detecting illegals..

...

The Strykers have infrared capabilities to see up to two miles out, detecting illegal migrants whom agents may not see.

...

We have both day and night optics. We can see pretty far."

The massive military vehicles are being used not only for detection, but also as a deterrent.

On Thursday of this week, Border Patrol agents in the El Paso Sector reported just 32 encounters, compared to 1,134 encounters on the same day in 2024.

As for why these massive and expensive vehicles would be deployed to the border when numbers are at their lowest in years, Border Patrol agents said they wanted to make sure the numbers don’t rise again.

...

cartels have had trouble finding migrants to smuggle across the border, because few have wanted to risk paying thousands of dollars just to get deported.

It sure would be nice to have all the destroyed Strykers, MRAPS, M116, M777, Bradley’s, M1’s etc given to Ukraine back here in the US.

Such a massive waste.

Text message deployments no doubt? What DC district judge is going to order them to turn back to base? Because the judges issue orders in text messages as well now!

With the 1st Armored Division stationed there, they shouldn’t need to look very far for a couple of Strykers. Although looking at Wikipedia, they may have given up their Strykers.

I am fully in agreement with the US military protecting our border from invasion.

It.Is.Our.Country.

If Americans were invading Mexico by the millions, stealing jobs, spreading disease, committing crimes against Mexicans - they would feel the same way about us. Justifiably so.

The cartels will still try nickle and dime, hit and run harassment but the leaders are well aware of the sheer overwhelming volume of firepower and potential for destruction the US military can bring if challenged.

Judges should be told to buzz off, not their lane, not their branch.

“...they shouldn’t need to look very far for a couple of Strykers...”

Nope. We’ve got a number of them and train on others up here at Fort Lewis, WA. (JBLM) Be glad to loan some. This is besides Fort Benning, GA.

Great to have superior optics - even better when you can “reach out and touch” any nefarious activity you see. That’s the difference between feel-goodism and FAFO seriousness because we mean what we say.
