The US intelligence community’s annual threat assessment led with the threat from drug cartels for apparently the first time in the report’s nearly 20-year history, according to Senate Intelligence Chairman Tom Cotton and a CNN review of previous assessments, highlighting a top agenda item for President Donald Trump.
The assessment also omitted any reference to the national security implications of climate change, a sharp reversal from previous intelligence assessments, including those under Trump’s first administration.
Drug cartels in Mexico and other parts of the Western Hemisphere “endanger the health and safety of millions of Americans and contribute to regional instability,” the intelligence assessment says.
In the first weeks of Trump’s return to the White House, the US military significantly increased its surveillance of Mexican drug cartels, with sophisticated spy planes flying at least 18 missions over the southwestern US and in international airspace around the Baja peninsula.
Dr. Ravi Chaudhary, former assistant secretary of the Air Force for energy, installations and environment, previously told CNN that climate programs are not just important to giving the US military an edge on adversaries like China, but they also help keep service members and their families safe.

The climate has been changing since the dawn of the universe. No one can do anything about it. Worse, there is no way to measure to effect of any attempt to do anything about it. I’m glad we are not playing games anymore.
The only national security implications of global warming is the possibility that people in power believe any of that crappola. OTOHand, if they do, they are the ones to be fired.
It is like with DEI. If you endorse it you reveal that you are a racist TWOT and must be shunned.
Face it, the climate changes. It’s always changing. We very well may end up one day with glaciers covering the northern half of North America. Can’t change it, can’t stop it. So get on with things and stop worrying over it. If it happens it happens.

As one who has carefully studied the issue for more than 4 decades, I can assure CNN that “Climate Change” is NOT a national security issue. For starters, the phrase “Climate Change” does not mean climate change. It means “Catastrophic Anthropogenic (Man-Made) Global Warming - CAGW is simply not happening. The climate has been changing for at least the last 4 billion years, and politics isn’t going to stop it. The slight amount of warming (2 degrees F) we’ve had since the end of the “Little Ice Age” where Heidi was ice skating on frozen Amsterdam canals, and London was holding Ice Fairs on the Thames River, has been nothing but good. Extra CO2 has been greening deserts increasing agricultural crop outputs, and helping the poor better survive winters. Over the last couple of decades, severe storms have decreased, farm land has increased, life span has dramatically lengthened, and life has simply gotten better.
The threat assessment failed to mention climate change, Bigfoot, and ancient aliens.
CNN once again proves that science never has been, nor ever will be their friend.

The only people who supposedly care about this so called “climate change” are out there polluting the air with Tesla EV car-bq’s.

Is there not a large blank space in the middle? Have you ever seen a story which fills in this area? Have you ever read a story that uses words like sun and ocean, which are the two enormous engines determining temperature? Cannot the stories that you have seen be inserted into one or the other circles?
I will submit there is no evidence of man-made global warming because no adherent to the popular mythology will acknowledge the existence of the sun and oceans. All I have ever seen are fraudulent to accurate comments on weather events or physical phenomenon involving temperature followed by an assertion man-made global warming is the cause.
In the hard sciences of Math and Physics, the earth’s climate is known as an open system, meaning all influencers are probabilistic and not deterministic. Any assertions must be less than certain, but we are always treated to infallibility statements like those for the boiling point of water. Popular reasoning requires a complete disconnect between events and conclusions and is no more rigorous than Middle Age alchemy.
