President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order requiring people to provide proof of American citizenship when they register to vote and demanding that all ballots be reviewed by Election Day.
The order requires government-issued proof of U.S. citizenship on its voter registration forms, directs the attorney general to enter into information-sharing agreements with state election officials to identify cases of election fraud or other election law violations and conditions federal election-related funds on states complying with federal election integrity measures.
“There are other steps that we will be taking in the coming weeks,” Trump said just before signing the order. “We think we’ll be able to end up getting fair elections.”
“It’s an honor to sign this one,” he added. “I sign all of them, but to sign this one is a great honor.”
The U.S. has failed “to enforce basic and necessary election protections,” the order states.
Election experts immediately criticized the move, saying it would disenfranchise millions of voters. …

I couldn’t read beyond this excerpt, but the last line suggests it’s already too late for you to be the first.
If you can't show an ID to show you are a citizen, then you have no right to vote.
I guess that means nobody needs to show ID to fly, or to police.
I have heard that you now have to show ID in person to sign up for Social Insecurity.

While I think all of that is good,
I also don’t think the Federal Government has much input
into how the States run their elections.
This is most definitely headed to the courts. Congress could even do something about it if they wanted. But I do believe the federal government can have some say in it after all the Constitution does spell out the day the election must be held. It may take a constitutional amendment to get it done though
If Trump does nothing else other than restoring election integrity, his second term will be a great success.
We provide a driver’s license to vote in Alabama. I dont see that changing here.

The law says only citizens can vote, also.
I don’t think this will stand up to judicial review. There isn’t a Federal Election. There are 50 elections.
I agree that it should happen, but that is up to the states.
It says proof of American citizenship. So, now do you need a birth certificate to register to vote?
