Federal judge blocks DOGE representatives from accessing sensitive data of 2 million plaintiffs

A federal judge in Maryland on Monday indefinitely blocked the Department of Government Efficiency from accessing the sensitive personal data of about 2 million union members, student loan recipients and veterans.

U.S. District Judge Deborah L. Boardman ordered that the Department of Education, Department of the Treasury and Office of Personnel Management cease in divulging personally identifiable information to DOGE representatives.

Those three agencies, she wrote, had already “likely violated” the Privacy Act and Administrative Procedure Act by granting DOGE affiliates sweeping access to systems containing plaintiffs’ banking information, social security numbers and other sensitive data.

“No matter how important or urgent the President’s DOGE agenda may be, federal agencies must execute it in accordance with the law,” Boardman wrote. “That likely did not happen in this case.”

The decision indefinitely extends Boardman’s previous temporary restraining order issued Feb. 24.

Another Biden appointed cronie. Trump was right to move with lightning speed, even as sloppy as it is going. He needs to get all this lawfare to the SCOTUS ASAP.

How did they all become plaintiffs? Some sort of class action?

Note to the idiot “judge”, DOGE IS the government! How can you prevent the government from auditing government departments?

All the madness comes from democrat judges.

Article II of the Constitution says that the chief executive determines who sees sensitive data inside the executive branch, not a judge and not Congress.

I am assuming that DOGE is trying to make sure that people getting veterans payments are actually veterans here?

And possibly that John Smith, John A Smith And John Adam Smith, all with the same SSN isn’t getting 3 checks?

And that “student”loans were directed to actual educational facilities? Or, that there is an actual student that a college is getting paid to teach?

She definitely likes the word “likely”...Know what I’m saying?

Since when are decisions handed down without any specifics - just “likely”?

There are rules and regulations that govern permitting access or exposing PII. This is a real thing.

I think the judge is correct here. The solution is probably getting DOGE personnel trained in what the rules actually are.

the more these radical judges mock the clear wording of the Constitution the more they create a mockery of the judicial branch in its entirety. as more former “liberals” wake from their slumber and see the realities of how the leftside activists act and do things, there will be a slowly building backlash that the liberal wing cannot come to grips with except with violence. John Roberts, to save the judicial from being completely seen as a mockery of American justice...reign in your problem judges. NOW.

appeals take too damned much time.

Congress needs to be called into an emergency session and rule judges stay out of executive branch. They need to spend more time clearing their dockets and hustling criminals through the convoluted justice system.

The active judges are the left-wing enemies of the Republic.

“That likely did not happen in this case.”

Likely???

The judges are now issuing rulings based on probabalities, instead of evidence?

Does Trump have a legal team? The team can’t make plain that DODGE is a fully authorized, empowered government initiative operating on a security level higher than the bureaucrats running the agencies?

liberals like rules for anyone on the right for control purposes and they DEMAND those on the right follow those rules. someone has to because on the left...THEY DON’T AND WON’T! remember friends, “conservatives seek agreement while liberals demand compliance” L.Star

I think Judge Boasberg has opened the "ignore the Judiciary" floodgates. Trump was waiting for an outrageous ruling to implement his "NUTS" strategy, and now he has it.

Ignore them all - they have no power, they have cut off their own testicles.
