How seriously are Canadians taking Trump? Some are apparently taking him a little too seriously. Most of us on the right are familiar with Trump's swagger, his Queens-style approach to negotiation, and his tendency toward acidic one-liners, nicknames, and insults. We know that he means business, but we don't take him literally. To be honest, most people on the Left know this, too, but it is to their advantage to pretend otherwise.
Some Canucks are taking Trump at his word that he will annex the Great White North. Some are even thinking about possibly taking up arms to repel an invasion by the United States. At The Free Press, Rupa Subramanya profiled several Canadians who said they would be ready to prep for war.
Take, for example, Joe Gosselin, the 68-year-old military vet, who believes that the threat is legit, that we are eyeing Canada's resources as China buys into them, and who even compared the scenario to the war in Ukraine. He said, “We could man tool cribs, teach people to shoot, and, depending on our fitness, we might even want to go to the front. We could mingle amongst them so easily and inflict damage because they look just like us and talk like us for the most part.”
Consider Chris Nunn, 45, a resident of Ontario. He said, “This is my homeland, built by 13 generations of my family going back to the 1500s when they landed in Nicolet, Quebec. I will fight. . . I may lose. . . but I will fight.” (What, no land acknowledgment?)
Then there was the 22-year-old Toronto poli-sci student Noah Jarvis. Noah believes that Trump plans to weaken Canada economically but added that he would be more than willing to enlist in the Canadian Armed Forces if it came down...

There are many out there who would have no limit to how we would defend this great nation. Many of us would rather have our eyes spooned out, be thrown in acid, be eviscerated, tortured, run over by tanks, have our heart pulled out of our mouth than have anything to do with the United States.
They appear to be a pretty narcissistic culture.
Canadians are asleep at the wheel.
They have drunk the Liberal koolaid, “Orange man bad,” propaganda form CNN via CBC, and CTV over the last 10 years.
The fact is that if Canada elects the liberals this time, Canada will become a third world country, an outpost of the WEF beyond the European pale. This while the United States enters its golden age, Canadians can comfort themselves in sucking the hind tit of progressive ideology, which now imprisons the Canadian populus, while ruled by a political elite of liberal politicians, who have conspired to illegally destroy Canada’s true dream of a populist movement and freedom, as represented by the Freedom Movement, Chris Barbour and Tamara Lich.
Trump knows this exactly. Will Canada cast off these liberal chains? Doubtful, they are too busy booing the US national anthem, and wing nutting US booze off their retail shelves, as if it mattered to anyone but themselves
Trump will never cut a deal with the liberal politicians who now think they have beaten the populist movement in Canada.Trump will beat the royal pish out of them, just as he is doing now.
A new more populist Conservative government might be able to save the day, but Canadians have been blinded by the cries of faux liberal Canadian Nationalism which will further imprison them.
They vote liberal , Canada is no more. The country will become the Zimbabwe of the North. Why do you think that the liberals have destroyed the private use of firearms in Canada, and its civil retail industry? The liberal elites refuse to give up power.Canada’s liberal thought police are sharpening their knives.Soon if you criticize a elite liberal in any public forum, you will be charged with criminal hate speech, or hauled up before a Human Rights Board.
Trump knows all of this, and he has given Canada an opportunity of economy which has been reviled and ignored by the Canadian press.Who would blame Trump for his contempt for the Liberal Party of Canada? Certainly not Americans who bask in a new age of liberty and freedom from the progressive yoke still plaguing Canada.
Canada has become a parasite on the United States economically and militarily , while Canadians are assured that they are something special by their politicians, they become a nation of fools.
“I DON’T CARE MARGARET!”
Canadians are too nice to take anything seriously.
The thing is, he’s shifted the conversation. People are thinking differently about Canada and in Canada, they’re considering alternatives that have never been considered before. That’s what visionary leaders do.
"and talk like us"
They are willing to name Trump as a threat, but the infiltration of China throughout there country is actually too much for them to acknowledge.
Well said
Thanks FRiend.
Canada had better wake up, or they all will be living on provincial welfare, with no more winter trips to Disney World.
Canada is a self-important nation that believes it can create a coalition outside the US.
Trump has a way about him that drives people insane. They lose all proportion and sense of humor. Trump doesn’t really want to make Canada a state. He’s speaking metaphorically about a general unfairness in trade and a sort of helplessness Canada faces as an independent country. Canada gets the benefit of US military and intelligence, and our trade too. They tariff us more than we tariff them. And we could both do so much better with a new deal. Not making them a state but making a strong economic union. Yes they have resources we can use and we have resources they can use. If they, with our help, and protect their external borders then we don’t need to worry so much about the border we share. Perhaps some day they could even adopt the US dollar and have a free flow of goods and people back and forth - similar to the EU in that they share currency and people can move and trade is free internally. Almost to the point that Canada doesn’t really need a strong central government anymore. Thus, “the 51st state” because we will have a stronger alliance working together. We are an economic powerhouse obviously (and militarily of course) but working together with the addition of their resources it would be phenomenally stronger and more resilient.
China is less of a problem than Muslims
If Canada votes Liberal (and the polls presently are showing that as a possibility), I could see that government doing something absurd as joining the EU to spite the USA.
Yes, Canadian's fit right in and we love them...
Trump is King of Canada. Accept it.
Pittsburgh alone has more MRI machines than all of Canada.
Canaduh is great for health care
