Lee Zeldin Hits Back After Judge Blocks EPA From Ending Biden Administration's 'Gold Bars' Scheme

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin vowed he wouldn’t give up the fight to terminate grants awarded by the Biden administration to “politically connected and inexperienced nongovernmental organizations” after a federal judge blocked the move.

“While the Biden EPA touted ‘tossing Gold Bars off the Titanic,’ these terminated grants, riddled with self-dealing and wasteful spending, are now frozen by court order," Zeldin said in a statement, noting billions in taxpayer money was given in a "manner that deliberately reduced the ability of EPA to conduct proper oversight.”

A federal judge on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration from terminating $14 billion in grants awarded to three climate groups by the Biden administration, saying the government’s “vague and unsubstantiated assertions of fraud are insufficient.”

The order by U.S. District Judge Tonya Chutkan prevents — for now — the Environmental Protection Agency from ending the grant program, which totaled $20 billion. The judge also blocked Citibank, which holds the money on behalf of EPA, from transferring it to the government or anyone else.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin accused the grant recipients of mismanagement, fraud and self-dealing and froze the grants. But after reviewing arguments in the case, Chutkan said Zeldin’s allegations fell short.

“At this juncture, EPA Defendants have not sufficiently explained why unilaterally terminating Plaintiffs’ grant awards was a rational precursor to reviewing” the green bank program, Chutkan wrote. (AP)

Zeldin said he wouldn't "rest" until the taxpayer money is returned to the Treasury.

“Every penny EPA spends will go towards our core mission of protecting human health and the environment, and Powering the Great American Comeback," he added.

Boy am I dumb. I voted for Trump/Vance because I’ve always thought that the President was the Chief Executive of the federal civilian bureaucracy and the Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces.

But it turns out it’s really leftist judges who run things.

Have the Justice Department start a fraud case against the NGOs slated to receive money, freezing up the funds and making them state their supposed work.

That will get the rat NGOs running

The salaries of Article III judges are protected under the Constitution and “Shall not be diminished during their continuation in office”.

The courts are digging their own grave.

Metaphorically speaking, of course.

This is true.

BUT

It does not say HOW or WHEN they can be paid.

How about December 31st of every year for one year’s salary?...........

I used to work for a place that paid only ONCE A MONTH. That was a big Pain in the butt! I can’t imagine what a ‘Once a Year’ payment system would be like................................

My own opinion is that Trump should quietly send an emissary to the justices of the Supreme Court (not just Roberts) and explain to all of them that the country faces a true Constitutional Crisis because the Executive Branch is right on the edge of making a sweeping announcement that no judge in the country has ANY power over the Executive Branch and that ALL judicial decisions are about to be ignored.

This is in keeping with Mississippi v Johnson (1867). The emissary should explain that it would be good if the Supreme Court were to reaffirm that 1867 decision and make clear that the Separation of Powers is still in force. If this comes from the Supreme Court and if lower courts were thereby reined in, everyone would benefit. However, if the Supreme Court declines this opportunity, the Executive will make it abundantly clear to the country that the Judicial Branch as a whole can go pound sand.

These funds are already sitting at Citibank. If this rat Judge says they can release them can it actually be stopped?

The government can freeze the funds and take them back if they truly wanted to.

good news though, you didn't have to vote for the judges! In fact you can't ... ever! So you didn't miss out!

Terminate grants awarded by the Biden administration to “politically connected and inexperienced nongovernmental organizations
after a federal judge blocked the move.

Democrat democracy burning the constitution in action.

Just the price of not conforming comrades.
