As the Trump administration seeks to mediate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., announced that he plans to propose "bone-breaking sanctions and tariffs" this week in a bid to goad Russia into making peace.
The U.S. and Ukraine declared in a joint statement on Tuesday that Ukraine would be willing to agree to a 30-day ceasefire.
"Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the U.S. proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, and which is subject to acceptance and concurrent implementation by the Russian Federation," the statement noted.
But Graham noted in a Wednesday post on X that he is "skeptical that Russia will accept the ceasefire" and is "very doubtful they want to end this war."
"In order to move toward peace, I will be introducing bone-breaking sanctions and tariffs against Russia before the end of the week. If they do not pursue the ceasefire with the same vigor as Ukraine, there will be hell to pay," Graham warned.

We do squat in business with Russia, and most of what we do we need more than they do.
It seems NOBODY can say what these super duper sanctions are tariffs would be.
Nobody. Not Trump. Not Graham. Not your average run of the mill neocon. Nobody.
I heard that Russia supplies 90% of our fertilizer. I guess we can ‘teach Putin a lesson’ by no longer buying the fertilizer, but I’m not so sure it’s a good idea to do that.
Credibility = 0
If Linda is for it you can’t go wrong being against it.
Miss Lindsey has no desire to force Putin into Peace.... He wants to force him into Global Nuclear War.
I think we should make our own fertilizer.
Politicians produce so much BS we might could go completely organic
Haha! I once asked a vegan who only ate organic where the cow poop to fertilize her produce would come from if everyone on the planet went vegan as she espoused. Her answer: farmers could keep cows as pets and we would still have organic fertilizer. I started to explain how much cow poop would cost in such a scenario, and hence her organic produce, but what’s the point in trying to reason with an ideologically-possessed airhead?
She would have done to answer “from politicians, of course!”
I heard the same, and was skeptical. So I looked it up. The majority of our fertilizer imports are from Mexico, Canada and China.
The person who said it was probably European — Russia really is the major supplier of fertilizer to Europe.
China thanks the Degenerate moron Linda Graham for his service.
If only Lindsey Graham cared half as much about America or Americans as he does about Ukraine.
“Ladybugs” talking tough again. Must be time for her to collect another “diplomatic immunity” moneybag from some foreign country.
It would be insane for Trump to double down on Biden's failed sanction strategy.
Thanks for looking it up...I didn’t, but I do wonder if Europe will now starve themselves.
I support Ukraine, but you are correct. We have little to know usable leverage over Putin at this point. The only real leverage we had has already been given away.
You actually touch on a fact that vegans don’t think about. If we didn’t use animals for food, wood, leather, fertilizer, feathers, and so forth; there’s no reason to keep them around. If everyone was a vegan many domestic animals would simply go extinct and the biosphere would be simplified. This vegans destroy nature rather than preserve it.
Other than Sean Hannity, who the heck asked Linseed Graham what he thinks?
But Lindsey isn’t president. He should run for president if he wants to act like one.
Ironically, Canada is the largest producer of potash, the main ingredient in potassium rich fertilizers. Most of that is mined in Saskatchewan which is the most conservative and Trump friendly provinces.
