Jeddah, Saudi Arabia — The U.S. and Ukraine said Kyiv would accept a 30-day ceasefire with Russia after talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, with Washington pledging to immediately lift a freeze on intelligence sharing and military aid to Ukraine.

"Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the U.S. proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, and which is subject to acceptance and concurrent implementation by the Russian Federation," the U.S. and Ukraine said in a joint statement released by the State Department. "The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace."

The agreement came after more than eight hours of negotiations between Ukrainian officials and a U.S. delegation led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

PEACE ALERT: Ukraine agrees to 30-day ceasefire with Russia, and Washington will lift the pause on Ukraine aid and intel sharing. Russia must also now agree to the ceasefire - AFP

IT'S HAPPENING. President Donald Trump's team is in Saudi Arabia making this happen.

This will be a HUGE foreign policy accomplishment under the current trajectory.

At least the soldiers and civilians can (hopefully) breathe easier for a bit while negotiations continue.

Russia still needs to agree to it, yes? Sure would be nice to see an end in sight to this.

There’s no way the Russians will agree to this. Why should they? They are winning. A ceasefire helps Ukraine, hurts Russia. It was an excuse to get the intelligence back and the aid rolling in again.

It’s to Trump’s advantage, as he can say he tried, and when Ukraine continues to lose on the battlefield after continuing to receive intelligence and aid, it can’t be blamed on him.

No real peace deal has been done.

By now, Z has been told that the line is more likely than not the areas which were annexed to Russia via the two referendums.

No, they’ll agree to it. It’s that old story...you know the answer before you pose the question.

Russia has no incentive for a ceasefire.

“Russia has no incentive for a ceasefire.”

I wonder what type of incentives (threats or rewards) President Trump will use.

I wonder if the so-called stopping of sharing targeting intelligence was just a feint, ruse so Russia couldn’t blame the US when Ukraine sent drones to Moscow

If Russia doesn’t accept a 30 day, I would imagine Trump‘s gonna give lots of stuff to the Ukraine

Russia will just see this as giving Ukraine 30 days to retrench, reposition and resupply.

Russia isn't agree to a ceasefire unless Ukraine concedes the annexed territory, renounces NATO membership and unless Zelensky is removed as President.

The Russians remember Ukraine reneging on and rearming after the Minsk Accords were signed.

No to their agreeing; yes to they already know the answer. Both the Americans and the Ukrainians know Russians answer and it’s “nyet”.

See, I side with President Trump and the US, not with Ukraine OR Russia. President Trump has a good heart, and he wants the slaughter to end.
