Canada and Europe, to the U.S.: “How dare you do to us what we did to you long ago! What gives you the right to do to us what we're doing to you now?!”
Canada and several European nations (as well as other nations, such as China) have long placed tariffs on American goods, and/or subsidized their businesses and industries placing them at a distinct advantage over their American counterparts.
Yet they, almost without exception, go ballistic when the U.S. reciprocates. This seems exceedingly odd, hypocritical-- and outright ungrateful-- as the United States essentially rebuilt much of Europe after the World Wars in which tens of thousands of American lives were lost fighting on behalf of European nations.
And since the U.S. has long provided Canada and the Western European nations their only viable protection from fascist and communist countries for decades -- and paid for that, too, so they didn’t have to, and could vastly expand their welfare states on Uncle Sam’s dime.
Had America not done this, Europeans may well all be speaking German or Russian, take your pick, and Canada would be Soviet or Chinese. (The Canadian government seems to be exhibiting a bizarre but clear favoritism for communist China at the moment, so maybe it wouldn’t have minded being just another SSR.)
The mainstream media (the enemy of the people) always reports on these tariffs with headlines such as “Canada and China Retaliate Against Trump’s Tariffs,” as if Trump just simply decided to economically assault these nations willy-nilly, out-of-the-blue, for no reason whatsoever. It’s bulls***.
These are not opinions, but facts, hard as they may be for Canucks and Europeans to hear.

Also, obscure EU product regulations close their markets to competing US products. Items such as a tooth brush or a bath towel each have roughly 100 EU regulations that the manufacturer must certify for compliance before it may be sold in the EU. This effectively closes their markets to us products and is really just a protectionist tactic.
Finally....the tariffs Canada has been charging us for yars has finally made the news.
“Canada and Europe bemoan...”
It must be a day ending with a “y.”
Political Science - Randy Newman
[Verse 1]
No one likes us, I don’t know why
We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try
And all around, even our old friends put us down
Let’s drop the big one and see what happens
[Verse 2]
We give them money, but are they grateful?
No, they’re spiteful and they’re hateful
They don’t respect us, so let’s surprise them
We’ll drop the big one and pulverize them
[Verse 3]
Asia’s crowded, Europe’s too old
Africa is far too hot and Canada’s too cold
And South America stole our name
Let’s drop the big one, there’ll be no one left to blame us
[Bridge]
We’ll save Australia
Don’t wanna hurt no kangaroo
We’ll build an all-American amusement park there
They got surfing too
[Verse 4]
Boom goes London, boom Paris
More room for you and more room for me
And every city the whole world ‘round
Will just be another American town
Oh, how peaceful it’ll be
We’ll set everybody free
You wear a Japanese kimono, babe
There’ll be Italian shoes for me
They all hate us anyhow
So let’s drop the big one now
Let’s drop the big one now
BTTT
Canada has a 250% tariff on American dairy products.
Canada/Europe: “How dare you not allow us to keep our unfair trade advantages over you!”
No need to pull up the WW2 references anymore. That was 80 years ago.
The EU packaging is INSANE. Especially in Germany as the Germans LOVE regulations and bureaucracy. Even the fruits and vegetables have to be EU approved for packaging.
My wife’s Canadian cousin was complaining about the tariffs etc. She closed the conversation with “But what if Russia invades Canada??”
In one sentence, she summed up the total nature of Canada as a so-called “sovereign” country.
Why not?
How long has it been since slavery was a thing? But we still get our collective noses rubbed in it anyway. Never mind the countries/cultures that'r still practicing such. They're "brown people" and it's "their culture". 🙄🙄😠
US-made ORAL-B is definitely sold in Europe. I bought a couple brushes in Marseille.
It’s not 250%, it’s 200%, and it kicks in only if imports from the US hit a threshold of volume.
We’re not close to the threshold and no dairy tariffs are being paid.
Also, the theoretical tariffs were left in place by USMCA.
do you have a link where we can see what the real Canadian tariffs are?
Bkmk
The United States has basically been PAYING the world since 1945 to “like us”.
And NOW some of us have the audacity to be offended by the whore stealing our watch from the nightstand?
Hopefully people are going to realize that ‘Isolationism’ was a propagandized pejorative to convince young skulls full of mush at schools to just go along with the agenda.
The US was NEVER “isolationist” - we just weren’t being used and fleeced.
