Republican strategist Karl Rove said President Trump’s claims that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has discovered “hundreds of billions” in government “fraud” will backfire when Democrats spotlight a lack of prosecutions of those involved.
During an appearance on Fox News’s “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy,” Rove echoed Democratic strategist James Carville’s sentiment that Democrats should “allow the Republicans to crumble beneath their own weight.” In his joint address to Congress last week, Trump criticized the “appalling waste” in government spending, while praising DOGE head and tech billionaire Elon Musk for discovering “hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud” within federal agencies.

Found another one with his hand in the cookie jar
I predict the Hill, Ailia Zehra, the Left ,and Karl Rove will backfire.
He is the last person the Republican Party should listen to. He is an advocate of what brought our country to the precipice of bankruptcy.
Isn’t Rove that guy who was relevant about 25 years ago but has been wrong on every topic ever since?? I watched his former boss George W Bush walk into the inauguration ceremony. He looked like he was sucking on a turd.
Bush called him “turd blossom”
He should be called “sh** stain”
Rove and Carville are two sides of the same counterfeit coin.
What do you mean? The “architect” who damned near lost the 2000 election? That genius?
To oppose getting rid of corruption is a losing position.
Trump just needs to come up with a new cabinet position of Sr. AG to light a fire over Bondi and get indicting.
Karl Rove helping the democrats.
I understand why everyone wants to see immediate perp walks. But in point of fact, it’s very important to have collected the evidence necessary to ensure conviction before you charge someone.
Our side hasn’t been in control of the DOJ. So, that means we need to clean out the rats, repopulate with right minded, competent prosecutors, empanel some grand juries, and force unwilling people to give testimony, BEFORE the perp walks can begin.
Remember, many such cases will have to be brought before extreme left DC judges and juries. Frankly, I think Congress needs to do something about that.
Just think how bad it would be, and what hay the left would make out of it, if we arrested people without having all the necessary evidence lined up, and they were acquitted.
Hush, Ham Head
It’s just kooky to think indictments can come this quickly.
Rove seems to be implying that if prosecutions don’t happen quickly, the claims of fraud will appear baseless, giving Democrats an opening to attack Trump. However, that ignores the reality that large-scale government fraud cases aren’t resolved overnight.
His position might make more sense if there were signs that the administration was failing to follow through on prosecutions or if DOGE’s findings were clearly exaggerated. But as of now, his argument seems premature.
Karl Rove and Trey Gowdy. Two worthless frauds agreeing with each other is not worth watching.
Karl Rove is still arguing that Romney “will” win Ohio against Obama.
How many fraud prosecutions can Rove point to under his former boss?
If “hundreds of billions” turns out to be exaggerated, so what? What’s going to happen? Trump will be called out for it in some future presidential debate? Uh, newsflash... he ain’t running again
He is assuming no one will be prosecuted, many have resigned or been terminated.
It’s been 50 days, folks on both sides should chill until the 100 day mark.
Cabinet appointments and SCOTUS judges too.
Give them 3 months to settle in.
