Poland PM fires off blistering attack on Europe’s ‘cowardice’ as he seeks nuclear weapons to stare down Putin
The New York post ^ | Mar 9, 2025 | Ronny Reyes

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has slammed Europe’s “cowardice” to stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin as his nation looks to arm itself with nuclear weapons to avoid the same fate as Ukraine.

Tusk said the current situation in Europe, which is scrambling to react to President Trump’s decision to halt military aid and intelligence to Ukraine, would not have happened if the union took harsher actions against Russia.

“Our deficit has been the lack of the will to act, having no confidence, and sometimes even cowardice,” Tusk told his parliament on Friday, adding that Moscow would have been rendered “helpless against a united Europe.”

The premier has called on Europe to accept that US aid may not be returning to Ukraine under the Trump administration, and that it’s up to them to act now before it’s too late.

To that effect, Tusk said his nation must be ready to fight in the event of a Russian invasion, with Poland currently in serious talks to gain some of France’s nuclear arsenal for protection.

“Poland must pursue the most advanced capabilities, including nuclear and modern unconventional weapons,” Tusk said in a statement. “This is a serious race — a race for security, not for war.”

The premier stressed that nuclear weapons were needed to maintain sovereignty as he pointed out that Ukraine, which gave up its nuclear arsenal in 1994 as part of a peace deal, is now being invaded by Russia regardless of past promises.

Tusk also warned that Poland would begin taking steps to withdraw from international treaties banning the use of certain bombs and munitions in order to bolster its weapons stockpile

So this guy might get his hands on a couple of nukes. I wonder how Poland would do with a few compared to Russia’s thousands, some delivered by hypersonic missiles?

It’s a mad, mad world out there.

a few nukes will save them...hehe. A sad commentary on how much faith people have come to place in nukes as a deterrence.

It’s very simple.

Don’t want a war?

Refuse to fund one.

Hint: The Rooskies can’t afford one, either.

Accusing the US of appeasing barbarians is a riot when the country next door won’t even send troops to monitor a ceasefire.

Well, the Polish PM wants to get in on the act too, as a potential leader of the “free world.” Why leave all the glory to Starmer and Macron?

There is NO GLORY in Starmer and Macron!

Traitors to mankind.

But EU Bureaucraps are behind all of this. Germany is up to their bleeding blood line being exposed again.

Sure, Russia would be able to easily overwhelm Poland. The defensive shield that Poland is seeking, however, is the ability to threaten Russia with the destruction of Moscow. That’s all they need.

It’s only the larger countries (eg US and Russia, increasingly China) that are really focused on missile numbers and throw-weight and ability to destroy most military and civilian nodes.

For most other countries with nuclear weapons (eg NK, Israel, India, Pakistan …in a way even France and definitely the UK), it is primarily to have a nuclear stinger that would make any attacking nation seriously re-consider.

Eg, a successful Iranian attack on Israel may result in catastrophic consequences in Tehran. Maybe that’s why Iran gave ample notice before their missile/drone attack last year.

The European warrior genes were wiped out in the twentieth century. Europe is now being invaded by fitter individuals from Africa and can’t survive as is.

Europe really isn’t. Neither is Russia

BS

Russia can’t overwhelm any where. Mother Russia is being handed her ass by the bedraggled forces of Ukraine.

Poland actually has a history of freedom unlike the rest of Eastern Europe that is based on Tsarism. I like the idea of countries arming up to defend themselves.

Poland is run by secularists right now instinctively I would expect them to be fearful people.

The nationalists in Poland in opposition include Christian elements perhaps they have a better perspective on all this?

These ungodly hatreds of other people lead to no good.

People in Eastern European nations especially the Baltics and Ukraine chose to do dirty work for the Nazis out of hatred for Communism-Russians.

Poland had a great resistance movement in World War II but even some of them collaborated as far a Jewish historians of the Holocaust are concerned.

In Poland it’s been criminalized to say that any Poles collaborated with the Nazis.

“There is NO GLORY in Starmer and Macron!”

Yes, of course. (I was being sarcastic.)

What better way to control a populace that is gettting restive, than to engage in fear-mongering and war-mongering? “Shut up, here’s a rifle, now go and die for your country.”

With outbursts like these from Poland I’m starting to better understand why they were Hitler’s first target.

Poland technically has great nuclear scientists and they go and work elsewhere, but they don’t have nuclear power plants.

“hypersonic missiles”

Ok, this was just nonsense - all ICBMs are hypersonic missiles. The Kh-47M2 Kinzhal is not really a “hypersonic missile” but an air-launched ballistic missile - The Kinzhal is just like any other ballistic missile. They are not maneuverable but extremely fast. In fact the fastest missiles in existence are ICBMs, or InterContinental Ballistic Missiles. These are what we in America and other nations use to deliver nukes by two of the three known delivery methods, whether it be Minuteman, or Trident.

Kinzhal is a Hypersonic missile by the definition that it flies faster than Mach 5, but by that definition every nuclear delivery system is hypersonic, and therefore as old as the Cold War. In fact Kinzhal is not only not unique, but not new. It is a mere modified Iskander ballistic missile.

Anyways, as Poland and the Russian federation are neighbors (Kaliningrad), there isn’t really much time to get hypersonic speeds OR to defend against them.

For that matter, the fallout from a Soviet missile would land on Russia and the fallout from a Polish missile may land on Poland.

So, lose-lose.

What it DOES give, is a MAD doctrine, preventing Moscow from sending in troops to invade as it did in 2014 in Ukraine
