US ‘to cease all future military exercises in Europe’
The Telegraph via Yahoo ^ | March 8th, 2025 | Connor Stringer

The United States has told its allies that it does not plan to participate in military exercises in Europe, according to reports.

The move, the latest in Donald Trump’s pivot away from the bloc, would see America pull out of exercises beyond those already scheduled for this year.

The withdrawal concerns exercises that are on the “drawing board”, according to Swedish newspaper Expressen.

It means that Nato countries will be forced to plan exercises without the participation of the US military, the largest in the alliance.

The need for NATO ended with the fall of the Berlin Wall. It should have been dissolved then, but bureaucracies never die, they just mutate and metastasize.

Donald has made a deal with Putin.

Of course he has, it fully explains his otherwise inexplicable behavior toward Ukraine and our allies in Europe.

This is a constitutional, conservative forum so our first instinct is to ask ourselves, what does the Constitution say? The first thing that comes to mind is that treaties require two thirds consent of the Senate.

The President is commander-in-chief and he does have some power to make executive agreements with foreign country but at some point those agreements can cross the line and then the Constitution requires advice and consent of the Senate. We have not had that thus far. Any deal that Trump cut with Putin has been done in secret.

Many things were wrong with Woodrow Wilson, one thing he did get right: open covenants openly arrived at are a foundation stone of our constitutional state and the safeguard of representative government.

Finland and Sweden can leave NATO if that's what they want to do.

They are doomed. Air refueling is one area where we have all the expertise and most of the assets. So there goes your air support component. We also have most of the air transport, fighters and bombers. And we provide the aerial electronic surveillance and ABCCC. I’ll let the army and navy weigh in on how our nonparticipation will affect the exercises. This will be more entertaining than a Keystone Kops movie.

Yeah, but you can’t trust a Congress that is neck deep in corruption as Trump has proven.

Let me explain how this will work.

The treaty will be between Russia and the Ukraine.

The US will be the guy in the room with a gun pointed at Z’s head:

“Your signature or your brains will be on this treaty.”

Easy Peasy.

No Senate approval needed.
