Democrat mayors refused to answer whether they would turn over illegal immigrant criminals to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during a hearing on Wednesday.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson would not explicitly answer Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer’s (R-KY) question.
“Would you turn this criminal over to ICE on a detainer?” Comer asked Johnson, to which the Chicago mayor replied by dodging the question, stating, “Our local law enforcement works hard every day to get criminals off the streets of Chicago.”

I can’t believe it is that hard to find a decent mayor in Boston or Chicago. Surely there is someone better than Wu Wu and Brandon.
I noticed that President Trump repeatedly referred to the Democrats as “The Democrat Party” in his speech Wednesday night.
The MSM-Democrats absolutely hate this. In fact, I remember at least one cable talk show in which the “host” threatened to throw a guest off the show because he continued to use that term.
But after the way the Democrats forced Kamala Harris into the top spot for the 2024 election, I think any argument that the Democrats are “democratic” is utterly and completely gone.
Have AG Bondi’s arrest warrants in hand when calling the bluff of these traitorous Demonicrat mayors.
Why bother with the hypothetical? Either their refusal is a crime or it’s not. Order them to comply with the law and turn over illegals. If they refuse and it’s a crime, prosecute, convict, and jail them. If it’s not a crime, don’t bother with meaningless gestures, and take measures to make it a crime.
Not a problem with the mayors. Just withhold all federal funds going to those cities. My guess is that it will take case of itself.
The Feds just need to watch them and arrest these people if they knowingly break the law.

Democracy and Communism have something in common.
Like Communism, Democracy has never worked, whenever and where ever it is tried
They are in violation of federal law and need to be arrested and prosecuted
As liberal as Chicago is, I think Chicago citizens all would be happy if ICE arrested Johnson for interfering with their operations.
“Order them to comply with the law and turn over illegals.”
You’re the first one I read in the responses that actually gets to the answer. There are ways to do this but walking into the offices of the city and demanding the turning over of a criminal from their jail that has boken their law, is not workable.
The assumption of fedeal law superceding state law is not quite correct. If a person serving for a crime in a state is under lock and key then it becomes deal making for the feds to get him through extradition. But, the minute that criminal steps out of total state control he is open season for federal prosecution.
Thus, if the city is trying to protect the criminal from federal prosecution, they can’t release him, parole him, or let him into the real world with any of his own recognisance as that implies freedom other than certain conditions which also require him to not break the law for them or any other jurisdiction. So, they have to house him, feed him and entertain him within the scope of complete responsibility that doesn’t allow him access to US soil outside of their purview. They just adopted him. And the only way to get him off their books is to extradite him the federal jurisdiction.

What about if the prisoner is released to their home but has ankle bracelets.
Are they fair game for the feds at that point?
At the moment they break out of the bracelets?
What do you think?
Michelle Wu is a presumably intelligent Harvard graduate, but she stupidly allows illegals to invade her city.
Wu is coming up for election. I hope that the people of Boston can throw her out (probably for another Dim, unfortunately).

Yamamoto went to Harvard, too.
One solution goes back 4000 years:
Death Penalty for Perjury.

Democracy has never worked, whenever and where ever it is tried
—
Last attempt at democracy was circa 500BC.
“Are they fair game for the feds at that point?”
This is the game they are playing. The cities, counties and states all seem to have different release points. Federal law under 18 USC 3624: Release of a prisoner states:
(a) Date of Release.-A prisoner shall be released by the Bureau of Prisons on the date of the expiration of the prisoner’s term of imprisonment, less any time credited toward the service of the prisoner’s sentence as provided in subsection (b). If the date for a prisoner’s release falls on a Saturday, a Sunday, or a legal holiday at the place of confinement, the prisoner may be released by the Bureau on the last preceding weekday.
What the local jurisdiction is trying to do in many cases is keep control of the status of a prisoner, some even through parole, which could be a substantial time. But there is a cost to the controlling of the person and if Trump decides to withdraw certain federal funds and put the burden of the bill on the local purse it will have an effect on there decision to release or burden them with budget shorts. It isn’t just a simple matter of rules but of political ideologies and a standown eyeball to eyeball. And the liberals are defending their voting base they have gone to great lengths to obtain.
So when the bills go up, and they have to cut services to maintain normalcies, hopefully their constitutents will wake up to the fact that their politicians are harboring criminals at a cost over their law abiding, apparently stupid, mainstream citizens. But, you can lead a horse to water as they could have released them to fedeeral authorities right off the bat and be rid of the problem right away. But there goes their voting numbers. And their are 13 million in the country right now in jeopardy. And the blatant stupidity is that if this was not an illegal they were counting on to vote, they’d have got him/her out of the jurisdiction at the first asking.
