MARINE SNIPER in Vietnam Behind Enemy Lines: Ordered to Take Out High Value Targets | Sherman Hickam
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58leeNhQ4c4
After enduring an incredibly rough childhood, Sherman Hickam wanted an escape and with his mother’s permission enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 17 in 1962. After completing boot camp Hickam spent the early days of his service doing “float phases” in the far east.
In 1965, with tensions growing in Vietnam and eager to get into the action, Hickam volunteered to become a Marine Corps scout sniper. The incredibly dangerous job had Hickam working with a spotter and going deep behind enemy lines for both reconnaissance and to take out high value targets.
In 1966, while assisting on a rescue mission for a downed helicopter Hickam and his fellow Marines stumbled onto a large force of Viet Cong fighters. In the ensuing firefight, Hickam was wounded by mortar fire and evacuated from the battlefield.

Howdy, luvie.
It’s still pretty windy but nothing like last night, thank goodness. That was awful.
The drizzle has ended so there won’t be any snow flurries. he ground’s too warm for any accumulation so that was never a concern. Just going to be cold tonight and again tomorrow night.
Hard to believe a week from now, they’re saying our high could be 80!

Well, that IS crazy. freezing one week.....summer the next. Same thing we’ve been going through all winter it seems.
I’m glad that awful wind has moved on. By the time I went to sleep last night, it was perfectly calm here and just cool enough to feel really good.

It isn’t freezing this week. Just cool, but with a couple of nights in the 30s. Pretty much what we normally have this time of year.
Next week will be unusual.
The wind’s still blowing around 20 mph or so, so it’s not gone yet. Just not 50 to 60 mph tonight. Looking at the 10 day forecast, it’s going to be pretty breezy for a while. *sigh*
Nice that the wind calmed down there. Bet your kitties are happy about it!

They were very happy! Yesterday, the only kitty I saw was Grey, and when she left her condo and realized just how windy it was, she just disappeared. LOL
20 mph is pretty breezy? Around here, that’s a slight breeze. That’s not to say I like it. Windy days make me angry and agitated.
