We are witnessing a president at the top of his game. Clear-eyed and confident about himself and his agenda, he put on a master class in presidential leadership in what was a speech for the ages.
Most times, a political address of 90 minutes would feel like an eternity. In the hands of Trump, it felt like a well-paced adventure through the dreams, hopes and tragedies of the people inhabiting the most important nation on Earth.
The Trump on that stage is not just the dominant figure in American life. In six short weeks, he has put our nation at the center of the world and made America important again.
In normal times, the run-up to a presidential address to Congress would be filled with reports and guesses about what the president would say.
There was plenty of that this week, but an inordinate amount of the focus in Washington was on how Democrats would react to Donald Trump.
How many would boycott? How would the members dress? Would they hoot and holler, or maybe march out in an organized pro-test?
In the end, it didn’t matter.
They were a sad, shrunken presence, especially after one of their main stooges, Rep. Al Green of Texas, got himself ejected early on by repeatedly interrupting.
Calling them a clown show is an insult to clowns. They earned their trip to the political wilderness
Meanwhile, the president they love to hate put on a show for the ages. No commander in chief in modern times has seized the reins of power with such gusto and delivered such immediate results. True to form, Trump wasn’t shy about saying so.
Watching him recount the success, especially on the border, and mix it with touching tributes to widows and families who lost loved ones to crime

Trump is a juggernaut, Vance and Elon his torpedos, his targets are bountiful, he is laying waste to the status quo. God Bless Donald Trump.
An interesting note from American history. Like Trump, Andrew Jackson was the Great Disruptor of his era. The Whigs, the party that rose in opposition to Jackson, was nothing more than a gaggle of factions opposed to everything Jackson stood for and did. They ended up splintering when they tried to have it both ways on slavery.
He’s gonna be 79 this year.
I’m 56 and can’t imagine having the energy to make major life changes.

The talking points are out as evidenced by the local rag’s comment section. “President Musk / Putin” is the new talking point the democrats think will change hearts and minds. Keep it up democrats. It’s a winning strategy.
This is what I alluded to the other day. The democrat party has proven itself to be wholly incompatible with freedom-loving, patriotic Americans, and must be shoved aside and isolated unto themselves. Last night was just a demonstration of that already-proven fact, given the way their entire party as a whole showed their rear-ends to America.
We need total separation from them. Peaceful if possible, and by force if necessary. And as you said, from the ashes, perhaps a few sane voice may emerge with which could possibly reason with. But with the state of things today, that is impossible.
It makes AOC look like the smart one, sitting it out. Probably took her paddle home, for a little recreational discipline.
Which places them in the strange position of going full fringe on every issue. This is not the path of wisdom.
