The Russian army is trying to break through the Russia-Ukraine border in Sumy Oblast and cut Ukrainian forces off from its logistics routes, State Border Guard spokesperson Andrii Demchenko said on March 3 on national television.
Demchenko's statement comes after Russian forces attempted to cross the Russia-Ukraine border in Sumy Oblast near the village of Novenke but were repelled the previous week.
Ukraine needs to being in some British soldiers.
It is going to take a decisive loss to bring Zeke to reality. BY giving him the hero treatment for embarrassing “mean Mr.Trump” they have made little Zeke irrational.
I don’t care, Russia can have him and Ukraine as far as I am concerned.
Sick of this punk and his con man gig.
Over the weekend most mappers updated to show Russian control of two villages on the Ukrainian side
Also Russia recaptured several towns in Kursk
The main logistics highway is littered with dozens of destroyed Ukrainian vehicles
We can expect Russia to make big attempts to cut off all the Ukrainian forces in Kursk. It would be a big bargaining chip when negotiations start.
The reason the Ukrainians are fighting is the same today as it was in May 2022 —> they believe that if Putin is allowed to get away with a SECOND land grab (the first was in 2014), then Putin will come back in some more years, when the attention is elsewhere and create havoc again and grab more land.
Putin is using standard “salami” tactics or you could call it “greedy mafia shakedown” tactics - each time coming back for more and more, smashing up each time.
THAT is what Ukrainians don’t want
Repirts this morning say yesterday’s 33% destruction rate if Ukrainian vehicle traffic is actually approaching 70% in Sumy Kursk area of operations.
The shovels are being tradded in for MOPS.
Yes, the road you’re referring to is the main supply route into the Ukraine forces in Kursk. It’s basically only able to get 1-2 in 3 supply vehicles through at this time from reports I’m listening to...and that number is dropping daily as the russians encroach on either side of the pocket.
I’m giving about a month at best before the Ukranians have to fully retreat from Kursk.
Kursk is Z’s bargaining chip
It’s getting smaller everyday day
Perhaps.
But then again, perhaps Ukraine would be better prepared the next time around.
I know there are folk on this forum who know a lot more about the particulars on the battlefields in Ukraine than I do.
Although geography matters, eventually manpower matters more.
I think JD Vance’s bringing up the matter of impressment into the military to Z’s face was terribly significant.
Hopefully, Team Trump has had time to cut through the propaganda that was being fed Team Biden and know exactly what the state of the war is.
Putin has resorted to mercenaries to repopulate his army.
The little dictator has supposedly resorted to kidnapping able bodied young men from nightclubs for cannon fodder.
Team Trump was not going to be tricked with the term “security guarantees”.
That was a term for boots on the ground to match what Putin was putting on the battlefield as mercenaries.
Of course the con man wants more money, but he now finds that merely money will not keep the war going and that he needs manpower.
According to ISW map of the region, Russian forces have entered the Sumi district and moved toward the primary supply route for Ukrainian forces in Kursk. They do not show the Russian as yet as having cut the supply line..
You may be right but the cost of this “slice” is pretty damn high and they would be very reluctant to go for another. Zeke has to be removed from the loop, his presence has become untenable IMHO.
The French have better MRE’s than the British serfs.
Salients are always vulnerable to flanking and the Russians have a history of being adepts. Stalingrad comes to mind.
Russians have rapidly advanced and have reached the border south of Sudzha

update on Kursk looks a bit worrisome.
It appears that the secondary supply route on the southern edge is close to being severed by a sudden Russian penetration.
