Newsom moves to clear flammable brush from California forests after Trump’s criticism over wildfire policies

California Gov. Gavin Newsom tapped into his emergency powers Saturday to roll back environmental regulations so that the state can speed up wildfire prevention projects, including clearing flammable brush out of forests, following criticism from President Trump.

Newsom, 57, suspended the enforcement of regulations in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the California Coastal Act and streamlined the process for government entities to clear up potential fuel for wildfires.

“This year has already seen some of the most destructive wildfires in California history, and we’re only in March,” Newsom said in a statement. “We’re taking action with a state of emergency to fast-track critical wildfire projects even more.”

“These are the forest management projects we need to protect our communities most vulnerable to wildfire, and we’re going to get them done.”

Newsom is said he is hoping to speed up wildfire prevention measures including building fire breaks, removing vegetation and trees from high risk areas and executing controlled burns to pre-empt wildfires and deprive them of fuel.

The Golden State governor took similar steps back in 2019 in the aftermath not long after Camp Fire tore through the Town of Paradise, killing at least 85 people.

Additionally, Newsom is calling on state agencies to issue recommendations on how to further ramp up the tempo and “scale of prescribed fire,” in which officials deliberately set fires in an area in order to reduce the risks of extreme wildfires.

Trump, 78, and other Republican critics have long called on California to step up its wildfire prevention efforts.

If he clears brush without thinning trees he will accomplish nothing. Much of that brush is manzanita. Unless they kill the stumps, it will be 8ft tall in five years.

These people have no concept for vegetation management.

Won’t do much good unless they can encroach on Federal land in California as the federal government owns 47.70 percent of California’s total land mass, much of it forests and open land.

Why has he been recalled and jailed yet?
Surely at least a few legal citizens in CA would demand action...

Obvious that the 85% of Californians who are Mexican citizens will never do anything except start more fires, loot, sell drugs, and vote the communist ticket...

Just wait. Will Newscum just choose his favorite company for this work/contract, with 10% for the Kalifornia Big Guy?

Or, will he put the work out for bids, and the company that most exceeds the 10% for the Kalifornia Big Guy will get the contract?

Will the chosen company be “diverse” or a bunch of racist white guys?

Will all of the equipment used be fully EV?

Considering all of the EV fire danger, will massive EV trucks filled with water be on standby?

Will that standby water be up to code? Just how much fluoride is acceptable?

If not, how will the damage to the Kalifornia biosphere be corrected?

Ya know...politics aside on this one...THANK GOD...Trump is forcing his hand and that’s great.

Just so it gets done!!

Politics doesn’t come before my desire to see Americans not die in fires!

Trump is saving lives.

And it’s a great thing...because without taking this action..there would have been devastating fires again down the line.

People saying it is too late..unless they know how to build a time machine, there is only one option..not to let it happen again
