HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHP) — Governor Shapiro released a statement Friday afternoon following a tense meeting between Ukraine President Zelenskyy and President Trump.
Their meeting was supposed to be an opportunity to repair a strained relationship, and make a rare earth minerals deal that would have been a major step in ending Russia's war in Ukraine.
Instead, President Zelenskyy cut the visit short after the meeting.

“We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today. Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure. It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace," Trump said in a social media post after the confrontation.
Shortly after leaving the White House, Zelenskyy posted, "Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you (president of the United States), Congress, and the American people. Ukraine needs just and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that."
During the meeting, President Zelenskyy's visit to Pennsylvania was brought up, referencing specifically his September appearance to thank workers in Scranton. Comment bubble BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT
Following the meeting Governor Shapiro addressed the Ukrainian presence in PA:
Pennsylvania is the proud home to over 150,000 Ukrainian and Ukrainian American people. Some have planted roots here for generations – and tens of thousands are here to find safety after fleeing Vladimir Putin’s aggression. I know they, along with countless other Pennsylvanians, watched in shock as the President and Vice President berated President Zelenskyy and advanced Russia’s propaganda directly from the White House. The Oval Office should be a place where we advance American values – not where we retreat from them. When the President and Vice President attacked President Zelenskyy today, they served to undermine the safety and security of America and our national security interests. I support a diplomatic end to this war. Achieving this requires an honest reckoning of who started the war and who the aggressor is, and to that question, there is only one answer: Russia. In a matter of just a few weeks, the Trump-Vance Administration has alienated many of our allies and is seemingly trying to take us from being the leader of the free world to a hemispheric power, signaling to our friends in Europe that they are on their own. Friends and adversaries elsewhere are taking notice. That is weakness that does not serve the interests of freedom and liberty, and it will create a more dangerous world. Strong leaders stand with their allies and they stand on their principles – and I believe we must continue to advocate for the values of freedom and liberty, not cower to dangerous dictators like Vladimir Putin.

“When the President and Vice President attacked President Zelenskyy”
What a backwards cuck. PA you can do better.
FlipWilson releases a statement on Gov Shapiro.
Hey sellout, your party will never nominate you for higher office because you are Jewish. And you are stone silent about that.
Does Josh want to go to the front or is this just political drama?
Shapiro is Deep State.
“President Zelenskyy cut the visit short after the meeting.”
I totally doubt that is how it went down.
So glad we aren’t talking about a phone call to Ukraine this time around.
The faggot came here
I don’t care if Shapiro is right or wrong. He’s the governor of Pennsylvania. I would suggest that Shapiro focus on Pennsylvania’s many problems, and leave international politics to President Trump.
Anyway, I wonder what’s next. Maybe Gov. Shapiro will give us his opinion on the price of rice in Cambodia.
This murdering POS sjouldn’t even be breathing God’s good air right now.
He’s one fo the five governors that should have been arrested, tried, sentenced and executed for what these evil basstids did to those poor, innocent elderly in those nursing homes during their big plandemic. Should be arrested for mass murder, crimes again the elderly, etc. But no, he’s got that big “D” after his name. He’d be wise just to keep his pie hole shout though.
The reason Shapiro didn’t agree to be Kamala’s VP was that he intended to run in 2028, knowing full well that she wouldn’t be elected.
Which is why he’s speaking up now.
It’s just politics as usual. Trump broke the mold, and many of us love him for his boldness.
Why is a governor saying anything? Not his business.
He’s worried about his Ukraine gift dollars disappearing.
We can, yes, when we get rid of Philly and Pittsburgh voter fraud
Serious people don’t try to score cheap political points by trying to undermine their president’s foreign policy efforts - especially when those efforts align with American interests the way President Trump’s do. If Shapiro wants to distinguish himself from the rest of the craven opportunists that make up the Democratic party, he’s doing a poor job of it.
Tom Wolf was the Governor during COVID.
Shapiro was the AG.
After the fact—when the harm had been done—he said that he had disagreed with many of the Governor’s policies.
Many County DAs refused to enforce Wolf’s edicts.
Shapiro could have grown a pair and followed their example—but didn’t.
Aligning yourself with the Bidens is going to leave a mark.
