U.S. service members who are transgender or otherwise exhibit gender dysphoria are prohibited from military service unless they obtain an exemption, according to an internal Pentagon memo.
The memo, revealed in a court filing on Wednesday night, details the Trump administration's new policy regarding transgender individuals. The policy notes that such service members "may be considered for a waiver on a case-by-case basis, provided there is a compelling Government interest."
"Service members who have a current diagnosis or history of, or exhibit symptoms consistent with, gender dysphoria are disqualified from military service," the memo reads.
"Service members who have a history of cross-sex hormone therapy or a history of sex reassignment or genital reconstruction surgery as treatment for gender dysphoria or in pursuit of a sex transition, are disqualified from military service," the memo continues.

And why would there be such a thing as an exemption?

And why would there be such a thing as an exemption?
—
There are always exemptions. There may (but most likely not) that there is an individual that has such a specialize skill set there is no one else available to do what they do. Having the ability to provide an exemption is just a way to deal with the situation.
However I read elsewhere that any “trans” that are allowed to stay must dress and act as the sex they were born. In other words get back in the closet and don’t ask and don’t tell.
But like a lot of things right now things are happening too fast to keep up with and none of what we read is true, or all of it is true, or a little of each. Time will sort it out.
People who want to ban deviants and sickos better be prepared to tell courts without jurisdiction to feck the hell off. Or stop wasting everyone’s time . There are THREE branches and their fundamental powers aren’t up for discussion.
The exemption would have to be awfully compelling. A fully “transgendered” individual will have ongoing and probably escalating medical problems, and that in itself is a solid basis for separation from military duty. The maintenance schedule alone is expensive and must be done in a monitored environment, plus the many potential outcomes as in mental health, autoimmune problems, and even various cancers that may be very aggressive all make the point the individual is “unfit for service” in any capacity.
Like, maybe if they needed someone who was fluent in lgbtqabcxyz who would translate pronouns for a negotiation?
Can’t think of any other reason.
I thought some hack judge already issued a block on this. There have been so many whack a mole judges I have lost track. If one did that would mean they are telling the Judge to f himself and stay in your lane. I do wonder what “without an exemption” actually means. Who and how will those be issued?
What??? What do we do without Klinger???
Good.
If the military accommodates a man identifying as a woman, they should also accommodate a corporal who identifies as a full colonel.
Did you see and hear that Air Force officer!!?
OMG
Are patriotic diabetics allowed to serve? Why not?
I listened to a podcast recently with Jo Ellis, the Army Blackhawk pilot with the Virginia National Guard who was falsely accused with being the pilot of the Blackhawk that ran into the commercial passenger plane at Reagan.
IMO, this is a person who would be considered and/or eligible for an exemption.

I’m a pretty hard case when it comes to trannys, but this person was so reasonable, I was surprised. He also was smart enough not to have bottom surgery which is especially horrific for males trying to transform to females.
Give a listen ... you don’t have to agree with me by any means, but it’s an interesting interview, at a minimum.
And an exemption signed by who?
I might see an exemption for someone who is only, say, 2 years from retirement and they're not in much of a leadership role. I think you have to stay in for 20 years in order to get retirement pay. I could be wrong.
