Good way to save money. Just make sure that when it reopens, there’s no back-pay.

In a shutdown, nothing gets paid for except “essential services “.

And Trump decides what those are.

As long as we don’t have to pay back pay I am good with that.

“In a shutdown, nothing gets paid for except ‘essential services’”.

And A DC JUDGE decides what those are.

Fixed it

If they shut it down they will identify the non essential employees. Make sure they know that.

Democrats are going to shutdown the government next month

Republicans have the power in Congress, or so I thought.

They always talk about keeping “essential services” open during these shutdowns. And as near as I can tell, those essential services are pretty close to the actual constitutionally legitimate functions of the government. So let them “shut down” government - and then let’s take our sweet time and have a good laugh at their expense before showing up at the negotiating table. At the table we can thank them for expediting the reduction of their automatic and illegal bureaucracy, and that we have no intention of negotiating since they’ve now given us what we want and there is precious little left to discuss. :-)

I agree. When the government isn’t in session, they’re not blowing our money like it’s theirs.
