They always talk about keeping “essential services” open during these shutdowns. And as near as I can tell, those essential services are pretty close to the actual constitutionally legitimate functions of the government. So let them “shut down” government - and then let’s take our sweet time and have a good laugh at their expense before showing up at the negotiating table. At the table we can thank them for expediting the reduction of their automatic and illegal bureaucracy, and that we have no intention of negotiating since they’ve now given us what we want and there is precious little left to discuss. :-)
