~ The FReeper Canteen Presents ~ ~ Remembering Our Troops!! ~
Air Superiority!! The exercise was conducted to demonstrate the wing's ability to rapidly deploy combat ready forces across the globe. The 1 FW maintains and operates F-22 Raptors, T-38 Talons, and the sole F-22 Formal Training Unit, responsible for cultivating America’s air superiority professionals. The 1 FW leads the way in combat capability and lethality across the globe, serving as America's premier Air Superiority wing. (U.S. Air Force photo by SrA Ian Sullens)

Canteen Mission Statement
Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies' military and family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.

Heroes To The Rescue! At the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Northern Command deployed approximately 170 active-duty personnel to assist Environmental Protection Agency-led teams with cleanup of wildfire hazardous waste from the Eaton and Palisades fires in California. U.S. Army North, NORTHCOM’s Joint Force Land Component Command, is overseeing the military’s support to federal and state efforts, while Joint Task Force Civil Support is providing on-the-ground command and control of active-duty personnel. Work to remove the hazardous materials is phase 1 of the federal cleanup response to ensure the safety of the residents by preventing these materials from being released into the environment. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Maj. Casey Nelsen).
Release The Dam! Water is released from the Cordell Hull dam on Feb. 16, 2025 after a heavy rain event in the Cumberland River Basin. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District dams play a critical role in flood risk management. (USACE Photo by Michael Davis)

Please remember that The Canteen is here to support and entertain our troops and veterans and their families, and is family friendly.

Howdy, luvie.
Did you have to leave your car or was your hubby able to jump it off?

Hey there, radu!
He has the charger attached to the battery. I guess he has to keep it there till time to take it to Sam’s to get a new one...or not. I have no idea. I’m not a car person. LOL!
I see that we have just about the same temperature. Right at 21º. 🥶

With it being so cold, probably a good idea. It’ll be a little harder to get it fully charged. I hope he checked the water in it to be sure it’s full.
The station wagon has a small water leak somewhere but it only leaks when I drive it at highway speed. Since I’m on the highway to go where ever I need to go, I’m not driving it these days. I think I need a new water pump. Gotta find someone to follow me to the mechanic so I can get home.
So I have it on a trickle charger now to get it through the next few frigid nights so the battery doesn’t die. I did drive it across the property to the well house earlier to check on the heater.
I don’t know where the thermometer is they get readings from in this area. It’s always off from what I have at the house. Mine reads 24. Still TOO COLD for comfort!

He’s just going to buy one and install it here at the house. He can lift them...I never could. This one has at least one dead cell, so it’s not redeemable.
The thingy I use says it’s from Estill Springs. Maybe they get it from somewhere else. Who knows.
It’s going to be just about as cold tomorrow as it was today, but then will begin to warm up.

It isn’t that hard to do. Just gotta be able to pick the darn things up! They didn’t used to be so heavy but they’re larger these days and weigh too much for me to handle. I had to replace the battery in the Town Car last year and the NAPA guy carried it to the car for me. It stayed in the car until one of my guardian angels came over to swap them out.
The little weather thingie at the bottom of my computer screen says it’s for Estill but I don’t know where it is. I do see the temp fluctuate on the car thermometer when I’m out and about.
It’s chilly in here because the wind’s blowing. Just watched the weather report and they said the wind chill is in the single digits now, and will be all day tomorrow. Gotta decide if I’ll go to the Republican women’s meeting tomorrow or not. Have to decide soon so I can go to bed early if I’m going.

I imagine there are going to be a lot of the ladies who either won’t or can’t get there. The better choice would have been to re-schedule it, but sometimes that’s hard to get done.
I’m just not “into” mechanics, so I am thankful he can do it....and WILL do it. I appreciate his help.

I’m not going to bother getting up early. I don’t think many will want to get out tomorrow and the meeting will be cancelled. Several are in their late 70s, in their 80s. The VP, who’s supposed to conduct the meeting, is 90. They won’t want to take a chance on getting sick in that cold wind. It’s a pretty stiff wind now and will be tomorrow too.
Can’t say I’m “into” mechanics but Dad taught me a few things back when I first started driving. That was back in the day when you could raise the hood and see and reach everything. And there were no d*** computers in cars.
Raise the hood nowadays and holy crap!
Hubby lived and breathed mechanics and was one of the best around. Sure saved a lot of money when one of the cars needed some work done.
