WASHINGTON (TNND) — The aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman was involved in a collision at sea with a merchant vessel near Port Said, Egypt Wednesday, according to the U.S. Navy.
The collision happened around 11:46 p.m. while both ships were moving in the Mediterranean Sea. There were no reports of flooding or injuries aboard the carrier and the ship's propulsion systems were not damaged, the Navy said in a statement.
None of the crew on the merchant ship, the Besiktas-M, were injured either, according to a defense official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide details that had not yet been made public.
The incident is under investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available

dry run? Egypt massing troops in Sinai on Israel border?
Most likely the troops are to keep Palestinians out.
Is this the same carrier collision that I heard about yesterday, or is this another one?
I find it strange that there are no details and no pictures.
One wonders exactly WTH happened??
First: how do the radar officers and lookouts fail to see an approaching vessel of that size?
And, just how is any surface vessel able to get through the protective ring of navy vessels that protect carriers, and actually collide with it?
This is a massive failure, and there should be any number of senior officers whose careers are now over.
Hegseth should be all over this.
People on that carrier need to go. What if that boat were carrying several tons of explosives? This simply can’t happen.
How in the hell two ships this large collide?
(How in the hell two ships this large collide?)
It’s possible their navigation gps systems were hacked.
Female at the helm? :-!
Dei!
Somebody is not making flag rank. Or is about to have it removed.
CC
BS. It doesn’t work that way.
Well something happened! What do you think it was? DEI at the helm!
Covered on every MSM outlet I see in addition to specialized outlets, bloggers and YouTubers.
How does a merchant ship get near an aircraft carrier without being turned into a coral reef long before it gets close?
The Navy spindocters are working overtime to put out enough gaslighting to hide what happened in the glare. Don’t count on the Enemedia; they’ll just blame Trump and Hegseth.
YouTube’s What’s Going On With Shipping covered this yesterday.

The big question has to be how any ship, let alone one of the merchant ship’s size could get anywhere near an aircraft carrier no matter how crowded the area is. Very little information has been released.
The aircraft carrier has had a DEI captain.
I’m no sailor, but I vacationed on a sailboat three times (highly recommended). I know there are specific rules that govern which vessel has the right of way. We’ll see.
