A popular and controversial drug used for weight loss is among others that could potentially have extremely serious side effects. According to multiple studies, patients taking drugs such as Ozempic may experience conditions that cause inflammation and the blockage of blood flow to their eyes. That could result in severe and possibly irreversible vision loss, the Daily Mail reported Monday. “Now, researchers have detailed nine new reports of US patients who went blind after taking semaglutide or tirzepatide, the active ingredients in Ozempic and Mounjaro, respectively,” the article continued: The researchers wrote in JAMA Ophthalmology last month that it’s not clear exactly what could be causing the side effect. The experts said while the exact cause is unclear, drugs like Ozempic rapidly lowering blood sugar levels could damage blood vessels in the eyes, leading to vision loss.

My cousin who is 67 female was taking a shot but not ozempic. She lost 22 pounds and could hardly eat at all.
She retired recently and insurance will not cover the shot anymore. She is already gaining weight with out it.

It’s too bad for your cousin that the appetite suppression didn’t take hold as a permanent change in eating habits. That rebound is probably very common.
But what an awful side-effect!

Well, that’s one way to lose weight - if you’re blind, you can’t see that you’re fat.

She is already gaining weight with out itShe needs to change her lifestyle IMMEDIATELY.
Any weight loss crutch without a permanent lifestyle change is doomed to failure.

Last bad news I heard about semaglutide was that it could cause hair loss.

So, they’ll be blind and bald... but hey, at least they’ll be slim, right? Sadly, a lot of people will go for that trade-off.

It works by correcting a problem, it doesn't cure it. It has to be taken long term, not just taken until the weight is off then stopped. If you do that then the weight will return.
It's like going on blood pressure medication then stopping when your blood pressure gets to normal. If you stop it the blood pressure will go back up. Same principle.

I guess if your blind you can’t see how fat you are so that’s a plus.
All these diets and weight loss drugs are useless.
How about eating right and eat less and exercising. You won’t get fat by doing that.
