The US Treasury Spent HOW MUCH Illegally? Now You Know Why the Left Wants to Stop DOGE.

Congress illegally spent at least $516 billion in 2024 on programs for which there was no authorization. Yes, billion, with a "b." A stunning report by the Congressional Budget Office underscores the reason for the legal assault upon President Trump's right to audit payments by the Treasury Department.

In a report titled "Expired and Expiring Authorizations of Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2024," the CBO observes: "Historically, House and Senate rules restrict lawmakers from considering an appropriation if it lacks a current authorization." Nevertheless, "CBO estimates that $516 billion was appropriated for 2024 for activities with expired authorizations, which the agency identified for each House and Senate authorizing committee and appropriations subcommittee." That $516 billion in illegal payments cover "1,264 authorizations of appropriations that expired before the beginning of fiscal year 2024 and 251 authorizations of appropriations that were set to expire by the end of fiscal year 2024." The legal authority for some of these payments expired 40 — that's not a typo — years ago.

[embedded spreadsheet]

This data reveals a couple of things. First, Congress has established a shadow funding stream for pet projects of either the institution or of senior members that allows money to be shoveled into a porkulus spending bill under the guise of preventing a government shutdown. The money is paid even though there is no legal authority for the disbursement. This is what, among lesser beings, would be called embezzlement, but no word exists to describe the activity on this scale. Where embezzlement gets the plebians a stiff jail term, it gets members of Congress reelected and seats on corporate boards.

Let's repeat that. The legal authority for some of these payments expired 40 — that's not a typo — years ago.

It’s sure a good thing that Musk isn’t going to audit Fort Knox!

That’s 25% of the annual deficit right there. Betcha they will find more than enough to wipe out the $2T annual loss in the next month.

Then we just have to recover all that funny money in everybody’s pockets.

I’m sure passing a CR just extends the expiration date. I definitely don’t agree with that, but that will be the excuse given if even asked.

FReepers are on this like a duck on a June bug.

Massive criminal activity is being uncovered by the DOGE team. Some of the fraud is payments to organizations associated with terrorism. Some of the payments are being made to individuals or organizations who are no longer authorized to receive those payments. The judge who is trying to shut this down is farting in the wind. President Trump must faithfully enforce the laws of the land, and uncovering fraud is part of the duties of the Executive Branch. The attorney general is obligated to fight any order which obstructs a lawful investigation and/or which attempts to destroy evidence. Such an order should be grounds for removing a judge from the case.

This is why Democrats are freaking out - their DC gravy train was just exposed.......
may be the biggest money laundering scandal since Ukraine, ActBlue, and other globalist scams.

Elon Musk: “There are currently over $100B per/year of entitlement payments to
individuals with no SSN or even a temporary ID number. If accurate, this is extremely suspicious.”

Over $100 BILLION is being sent every year to people in America with no Social Security numbers or even a temporary ID.

This should be matched up w/ voter rolls.

Some may be Rs.

I’d bet that 30 or so R house members are terrified by what Trump is doing.

Either because of blackmail or they are just crooked...or don’t want to fight the status quo.

Well, they better man up.

Americans should be very angry and demand more DOGE nerds to look at everything at all levels. I wonder what they would find if they are allowed to look into CA’s book for just a day. Also, every agency has IG teams. They need to be all fired and prosecuted.

Not just illegal. The Demonicrats don’t want their massive amount of treason uncovered. That’s why their leftist judges have been activated to stop the Trump Administration with TROs - to give them time to destroy evidence.

If there was no authorization then it’s not congress’s fault. Its the presidents fault.

And yet some judge is saying that Trump’s appointees have no authority to audit the system.

When it all gets out in the open, I expect that more than half the budget is stolen or embezzled. After hurricane Katrina it was revealed that payroll payments were made to fraudulent accounts. Turns of that all the city politicians had a fake account that they drew from for extra money.

Making an appropriation on an expired or non-existent authorization breaks a rule, not any law. In DoD, we would not spend beyond an authorization, even if the appropriation was higher. I’m fairly sure that was policy, not law.
