Jennings: Trump's Superpower Is Getting Democrats To Oppose Him On 80-20 Issues
Real Clear Politics ^ | February 6, 2025 | Posted By Tim Hains

SCOTT JENNINGS: This is -- he's describing what is currently the dumbest strategy in politics, which is Democrats taking the 20 percent side of every 80-20 issue in America. USAID, people want this pared down. They want to streamline. They want to know where the money is going, Democrats have a meltdown.

Today, Donald Trump signs an executive order on keeping boys out of girls' sports, and Democrats take the 20 side of that issue as well.

All these issues, this is like Trump's superpower, finding a bunch of 80-20 issues, getting on the 80, and everybody who's sort of reflexively against him gets on the 20. And now the Democratic Party has like a 31 percent approval rating. This is why.

Elected Democrats could care less about the common folks. They only care about the acquisition and retention of political power for one goal and one goal only, total control over the American people!

There is truth to that. Trump picks issues (and he doesn’t care if they are traditionally Republican or Democratic) that the vast majority of people support.

True. Democrats now hate UFC, the Village People, and the Super Bowl.

Jennings point is that 20:80 strategy is not effective for that purpose.

You can get away with that only if you have overwhelming institutional power (Gramsci’s hegemony), to override “normal” politics, but it turns out they don’t really have that. So the need to rethink.

If Trump said that cancer is horrible the Dems would come out and say that cancer has value..everything out of Trump’s mouth they say the opposite, like with Trumps Gaza plan, yeah its wishful thinking but you know what, if Biden had said it the commie media would have called him brilliant

The Democratic Party are used to controlling the narrative and telling the people how they should think about an issue.

They no longer control the narrative, in part because Elon Musk broke an important part of their control mechanism by purchasing X (formerly Twitter).

As Elon Musk said: We are the Media.

Of course, it is more complicated, but control of the narrative was the primary way the Deep State and Media were able to control the politics in the USA.

Seems like it's TDS. When it comes to Trump, they are not being strategic.

Bill Clinton was a skilled politican because he knew how to be strategic.

If the Democrats were a football team, they'll refuse to "punt" the ball and they'll rather get sacked in their end zone.

I guess Trump has broke the Democratic Party.

If Trump cured cancer and gave the cure away for free, they would attack him and sue that hospitals are going to lose money and that’s not fair.

Preference cascade. The Left went too far and we’re in the corrective phase. Progressives are so used to people going along with their cockamamie ideas, they don’t know what to do now.
We must mock and torment the devil out of them continuously.

The Democrats are too beholden to their special interests who are all radical kooks who want control. They can’t retreat from many of the extreme positions they hold, which are unpopular with many Americans!

“The Democrats are too beholden to their special interests”

That is one of their problems, yes.

Scott Jennings is the only intelligent person on CNN. It’s amazing that he’s even there.

The democrats are on the WRONG SIDE OF HISTORY.

So let them keep choosing the “20” side of 80-20 issues. Perhaps they will end up with an 80-20 spread in congressional power, and then we will be 100% done with them forever.

God, in Your omnipotence, I pray make it so!

Yeah, he’s on to something.

Nancy Pelosi won’t understand this because Trump isn’t
sophisticated.

Why do Democrats want to expose themselves with stupid positions?
