Establishment Media Anguish over Trump’s ‘Sledgehammer’ Approach: ‘Simply Can’t Cover Everything’
Breitbart ^ | February 5, 2025 | Wendell Husebo

Members of the establishment media admit they are overwhelmed with President Donald Trump’s wave of hourly news dumps.

The volume of news appears to be traumatizing corporate newsrooms and media personalities who are seemingly accustomed to a president who hid from the press for four years.

Publications “are cognizant of the fact that, much like their larger peers, they simply can’t cover everything,” CNN’s Liam Reilly told readers Wednesday.

Just on Tuesday, Trump said the U.S. would take control of Gaza, slapped Iran with sanctions, offered to purge the CIA, and continued to dismantle the USAID. Wednesday is set to be another big day with an executive order to restore women’s sports. “There is so much winning out of the Trump White House that the mainstream legacy media can’t keep up with it,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said.

Brian Stelter, who claimed four years ago that Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation, reported in his morning newsletter about Trump’s “sledgehammer” approach and captured members of the media complaining about it:

Trump has the media caught off guard just as Patton caught Erwin Rommel off guard.

They tried to overwhelm Trump with lawfare.

This is just turnabout.

the left just had their big 50 state protest and it seems it was a flop.

What’s their next plan?

They wouldn’t be covering most of it anyway, especially not the graft that’s been going on with USAID, the Treasury, etc.

Although it would be somewhat difficult, I think they COULD cover everything.

Just keep it straightforward and honest — Trump did this, then he did this, then he did this. Then so-and-so said this, and what’s-his-face said that.

Just spit out the facts one after another, and before you know it you’re “covering everything”.

But, of course, that’s not their job, is it? Not really. The media exists to say “Trump did something, and we’ve lined up 8 experts to dissect it and to tell you how to feel about it, and why this makes Trump worse than Hitler. We’ve collected film, and sound-bites, and put together some graphics to persuade you that this thing that Trump did is the worst thing that anyone has ever done.” That stuff takes time. You can spend a week doing that. Which makes it tough if Trump does 15 things a day. In a world like that, it’s just impossible to “cover everything”.

Trump is deadly serious about some things. But other things are meant to just distract and confuse the mainstream media. It’s kinda like throwing off chaff.

A brilliant strategy, if you ask me.

Local news was reporting 100 people protesting at the state capitol here in GA (the Gold Dome). We had that many at some of our Trump pop-up rallies roadside last Fall, in a suburban/ exurban transition county!

Good! The Dems and the Enemedia did the same for decades. It’s just Wednesday for us. They get two weeks of it and they’re already tuckered out!

The issue is even if they mention something, with everything else coming out at warp speed it is impossible for it to stick in the news. By the next day there are 10 more things to point out, so yesterdays big news is shoved out of the cycle.

Brilliant approach. They are used to fighting a single battle and controlling the narrative. Trump is opening 10 battlefields a day. Talking about all of them non-stop exacerbates the problem for the press, because it guarantees that nothing sticks. If they want to oppose one, they are forced to ignore 9 others today, and 10 more tomorrow, and 10 the day after ... to get traction with their opposition.

The democrats are so wrong on so many issues. Trump can go from issue to issue. And democrats can’t spin men in women sports, Billions for LGBQ comic books in Peru, Immigrant crime, DEI in air traffic controllers. FBI spending one third of the work force prosecuting Trump or hunting down J6 grandmothers. They are on the wrong side of too many issues.
