Deadly version of H5N1 bird flu spills over into Nevada dairy cattle
LA Times ^ | 2-5-25 | Susanne Rust

A version of the H5N1 bird flu virus that killed a person in Louisiana and severely sickened a teenager in Canada has now been detected in dairy herds in Nevada. The version, known as D1.1, is circulating in wild birds around the nation — causing massive die-offs in places such as Chicago, upstate New York and Ohio.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service confirmed the finding Wednesday.

It’s different from the version circulating in dairy cows, which has caused only relatively mild illness in humans, although it has killed scores of domestic and wild cats. Both versions belong to the H5N1 virus family — each with slightly different histories and genetic structures.

Finding D1.1 in dairy cows caught investigators off-guard, but it is just the latest surprise as the H5N1 bird flu continues to flummox researchers and public health officials. It’s a stark reminder that this virus does not behave like a “typical” flu virus.

The CDC is banned from talking to the public, but they can still use CIA controlled media to fan the flames of panic and get Plandemic 2.0 on a roll.

We’ve all seen the poultry barns, out in the middle of nowhere. How does bird flu spread to a poultry barn far, far away? If your chickens get the bird flu can you just simply treat the chickens or do they die from this flu?

This is their 2025 Covid exploitation operation.

They’ve successfully tripled egg prices due to bird flu.

Now they going to try to do it to beef and dairy.

Those Gain-Of-Function Labs sure are doing a wonderful job for humanity!

As I understand it, birds fly, and poop.

Poop falls on the ground, into feed, water and soil. Even if the birds are in a big barn, people can carry it in one way or another.

There’s not really a way to protect livestock against H5N1. There is no vaccine for it, and no treatment for it. So far, the only effective defense for poultry is culling.

Amazing jump from avian to mammalian. Completely different taxonomic class, but whatever...

It’s been jumping for a long time, and probably longer than we know.

yes, and it appears to be quite virulent. I do not take reports of such inter species spread lightly.

Let’s not go crazy with the cattle like the government did with the chickens.

It does; and then ten years or so later, it shows up again. It seems to have first been identified in the late 1800s, and who knows how long it was around before then.

It kills poultry very quickly, often before you even have a clue that it’s in your flock.

It’s a huge economic problem.
