NY Times Report: Elon Musk Sleeping in Federal Office Building to Save Taxpayers $1 Billion Per Day
Breitbart ^ | 02/04/2025 | Wendell Husebo

Elon Musk, director of the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and his staff are sleeping in the federal personnel office to save taxpayers about $1 billion a day, a person familiar with the situation told the New York Times.

Sleeping in office buildings is not unusual for Musk, who deployed the same cost-saving measure at Twitter and Tesla.

“Very few in the bureaucracy actually work the weekend, so it’s like the opposing team just leaves the field for 2 days!” Musk posted on X over the weekend. “Working the weekend is a superpower.”

Holy cow Elon. Go to the State Department where Hillary lost 6 billion dollars. You could get a few days off there real quick.

USAID is just a small part of the problem.

He’s a master of the private sector, the public sector has no chance...he’ll out-work all of them.

Eight Sleep's AI-powered Pods arrive at @DOGE headquarters, enabling Elon's team to optimize rest while working around the clock. The $1.94T in federal waste won't cut itself. The smart beds use machine learning to track vital signs and automatically adjust temperature for each sleep stage, achieving 78% accuracy compared to medical-grade EEG. Perfect for power naps between budget cuts. Source: @m_franceschetti @eightsleep @elonmusk

I’m pretty sure Elon’s buying the food.

And I am wondering HOW it’s a billion a day. Where is the writer getting that number?

Agree he’s a leader of logic and that scares the hell out of those who fail to understand it.

Yeah, even the debt clock has the DOGE savings of a little over $56 Million currently. And that in just 15 days.

Probably got the number by taking the number of programs he is proposing deleting, and dividing it by the days he has been working in that area.

I saw a movie once called "The Accountant" with Ben Affleck as a autistic (somewhere on the spectrum) accountant who also happens to be an assassin.

I very much enjoyed the movie, and it occurred to me how scary it would be to have an accomplished, autistic assassin who would pursue you relentlessly with a single minded focus until the job is done.

I think that is Musk here.

We’re going to have to have DOGE look into that “billion dollars a day” number.

My guess is that NYT isn’t very good with numbers and zeroes and such . . .

They probably want to exaggerate it so that later on they can say he is underperforming.

Typical.
