Here’s what will get more expensive from Trump’s tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China

CNN — On Saturday, President Donald Trump made good on his promise to impose steep tariffs on America’s three largest trading partners — Canada, China and Mexico — citing a national emergency on the flow of fentanyl and undocumented immigrants into the United States.

The action, which is expected to take effect on Tuesday, includes a 25% duty on all imports from Mexico and most goods from Canada (there’s a 10% carve-out for energy-related items such as crude oil), and an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods imported into the United States.

Apparently it’s taboo for anyone to ask what good Trump is going to do with those hundreds of billions in tariffs we are about to collect.

Every six months tally it up and give each actual taxpayer in the U.S. his share by tax rebate check.

Has Trump announced plans for all of that cash?

What cash? It’ll be an insignificant percentage of the national debt. So there won’t be any cash.

If income tax is eliminated AND the federal Gov’t reduced to its constitutional limits, inflation will halt, we’ll all be richer, and expenses will decrease.

“Has Trump announced plans for all of that cash?”

Trump could use it to fund the Gitmo’ halfway house operation.

It will help get this nation back on the right path. If Argentina can do it, so can we.

All that collected tariff cash is in fact a taxes collected from the American people. The people will have the cash to reduce the national debt

Gonna need lots of prison space once all the evil of previous administration and their bureaucratic co-conspirator are found out.

Unless DOGE can find a cheaper method of justice.

Not my favorite tequilas!!! I will die. . . of something. I’m getting the shakes just thinking about it. Why me?? I’ll empty out my bank account and buy up every tequila I can afford until this crisis is over.

Mostly just oil. Not an important commodity. Nothing to worry about. He knows what he’s doing, right?

That’s nothing to do with me or Trump. It’s just math. We are trillions in debt, this person thinks the tariffs will make billions. The math there is very simple and does not lead to “extra cash” for Trump to do anything with. If you’re $10,000 in debt and I give you $20 do you have extra cash? No. That’s the math.

Even if the US put 75-100% tariffs on every country in the world it would still not generate enough revenue to replace the income tax in one year.

Ok, say hypothectically everything comes home to US based manufacturing and we no longer import then we lose that source of revenue.

US companies that export will be devestated. The stuff we need to import would have 100% tariffs. It would destroy the US and worlds economies.

The replacement of the income tax is not going anywhere and is a fantasy pipe dream.

Trump collected at a minimum $100billion in tariffs from the Chicoms. Divide that by 160 million individual tax returns is $625. If it’d be too much trouble for you to cash the check, you could send it to me or donate it to the treasury.

The national debt is $36 TRILLION. $100 billion in tariffs is 1/360th of that. There’s no money to divide among the people.
