The president cited articles that said the FAA was prioritizing hiring people with “severe intellectual disabilities, psychiatric problems, and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.”
“The FAA — another story — determined that the workforce was too white. They actually came out with a directive to white and we want the people that are competent,” he said.
“You have to be talented, naturally talented — geniuses — you can’t have regular people doing that, won’t be able to do it, but I will restore faith in American air travel.”
During the Q-and-A period, Trump acknowledged, “We don’t know, necessarily, that it was even the controller’s fault” and also blamed the Black Hawk helicopter’s crew for not spotting the plane.

Incompetent chopper pilots more likely.
With a statement like this, he must know who was involved.
Remember this putz that Biden tried to get confirmed for FAA head?
Biden’s pick to lead the Federal Aviation Administration couldn’t answer a single **QUESTION ABOUT AVIATION**

Either DEI dies or others die from DEI.
NUKE DEI!!!
For once, our side is not letting a crisis go to waste.
This might be a bit premature as all the facts have not come in yet.
He said it COULD HAVE BEEN DEI in the FAA......not that it was.
Shame on the NYP for an dispicably misleading headline.
Doesn’t matter. Strike while the iron is hot and get these reforms done.
DIE policies may not be directly related to this crash but they do impact our safety in the skies.

NYP should update that misleading headline
“This might be a bit premature as all the facts have not come in yet.”
Agreed. As much as we want to get out in front of the story, maybe we should hold off a day or two until we know more.
I’d hate the see the President get burned for jumping on this too early.
But yes, once he knows the truth, he can fire away with both barrels if need be.
After watching the distant video and hearing audio, the CRJ was on a left base behind another jet for Rwy33 and the chopper was told to pass behind the #1 leftbase aircraft and that is who the chopper acknowledged in sight. The chopper flew into the @2 aircraft who he thought was #1 and to pass behind. The chopper was on a training flight; maybe he was under the hood and flying under instruments and not visually along with the instructor whose vision was watching instuments also.

Night time, the descending airliner is changing altitude and difficult to judge from the helo even if they saw them
The definitive "big picture" is at ATC where they have altitudes and headings, and saw these aircraft on a collision course AND SAID NOTHING like "helo make an immediate left turn" or "airliner make an immediate left turn" to avoid the collision.
The airliner is on approach, low thrust and not a lot of energy to play with. The helo is already spooled up and can ascend or turn pretty rapidly.
I don't think the final NTSB report will fault either pilot. From what I've read, ATC (DEI hire?) screwed the pooch.
I believe you could say.. "Mr Trump has MASTERED the art of POLITICS and LEADERSHIP!
Read V_TWIN’s response above at #11.
Always keep in mind the “Good people on both sides” in Charlottesville. Trump did and said nothing wrong.
The Media are going to go full bore doing this kind of thing for the next four years.
The Media are going to go full bore doing this kind of thing for the next four years.
Only this time, Trump isn’t just going to sit back and take it.
Blaming the organization and processes as culpable as they may be, runs the risk of overlooking the incompetence of the responsible individuals.
