Just Stop Oil appeals: Supporters protest outside High Court as prison sentences challenged

Eco-protesters are outside London’s High Court ahead of an appeal from Just Stop Oil activists, as the granddaughter of the Suffragettes leader hit out at the ”heavy-handed” jail sentences.

Sixteen jailed activists are challenging the sentences imposed for a series of stunts and protests.

Just Stop Oil’s leader, Roger Hallam, is among those appealing, after he was jailed for five years for his involvement in a conspiracy to cause mass gridlock on the M25 [freeway].

Also part of the appeal is Phoebe Plummer, a committed JSO activist who was imprisoned for two years for throwing a can of Heinz tomato soup at the Van Gogh masterpiece ‘Sunflowers'
