Hamas has revealed that only 25 of the 33 hostages it planned to release are still alive as hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians return to their homes in Gaza.
Eight of the hostages due for release in the first phase of a truce deal between Israel and Hamas are dead, Israeli government spokesman David Mencer said Monday, after receiving a list from the Palestinian militant group.
'The families have been informed of the situation of their relatives,' Mencer told reporters.

This deal was a mistake by Israel.
hamass is declaring it a victory, which from an arab point of view is correct. If you are not dead, you won. If you are dead, you’re still a martyr. The fact that essentially all your infrastructure is destroyed, your initial military personnel are essentially all dead or wounded is completely beside the point to an arab.
The only thing an arab might recognize as a loss is abject and permanent surrender. That didn’t happen. So hamass will reconstitute in 20 years, and have yet another terror, rape, murder invasion.
What a waste. The arab mind is a useless piece of junk, inbred ignoramuses that they are (see my About page for details on muslim cousin marriage and its impact on ability to think). But they have one thing right: Jews value life, muslims value death, and muslims can consistently exploit the difference to declare victory among the rubble.
