Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne and 10th Mountain Divisions and a Stryker brigade from the 4th Infantry Division have been told they are next up.
The Pentagon is sending about 1,000 soldiers and 500 Marines to the border, while soldiers in the 82nd Airborne and 10th Mountain divisions have been told they would be next.
Military police and engineers from eight states are among the Army and Marine units the Pentagon is sending to the southern border this week while soldiers with the 82nd Airborne and 10th Mountain Divisions could join them soon, a U.S. official confirmed on Friday.
The soldiers from the 82nd Airborne and 10th Mountain have not yet been issued “prepare to deploy orders,” the official told Task & Purpose. Rather, they have been informed that if the secretary of defense orders the Army to send more troops to the southern border, they would be the next to go.
No information was immediately available on Friday about exactly how many soldiers from those two divisions might deploy, but the U.S. official confirmed that the entire divisions would not be sent to the southern border.
If they are deployed the soldiers from the 82nd Airborne and 10th Mountain Division would continue to carry out active-duty troops’ current missions on the border, the U.S. official said.
A Stryker brigade with the Army’s 4th Infantry Division has also been informed that it might delploy to the southern border if additional troops are needed, Task & Purpose has learned. As of Friday, the brigade had not received any orders to prepare to deploy.

Ultimately get 10000+++ troops on the Mexi border. Be sure to station some at the legal ports of entry to put fear of God in the miscreants. Troops can search vehicles with drug sniffer dogs and inspect vehicles. Though the Border Patrol must make the arrests.
Indeed I would agree 100% that these guys are “happy” to oblige. They haven’t had a leader in 4 years. This is what they signed up for.
Let’s be aware that it’s going to take some time to find all the bad guys, so we all can’t afford to let our guards down. Situational awareness- keep it up- the “animal” is most dangerous when it’s cornered.

The soldiers of sound moral character as well as good patriots will be quite happy to do all they can.
The sad part is that “majority” may be slightly over 50%. Returning military units back to a STRAC status will take a few months, and there will be lots of weeding out to do.
Just getting these people back to a proper weight range and physically fit will be a problem. In the 90’s the USAF had what was called “The Fat Boy” program where a person was given certain weight loss goals and run out of the service if not met within a given time. Today calling a fat slob a fat boy would hurt their feelings and they might start to cry.
