Ford Motor is recalling 272,817 vehicles in the United States due to concerns over battery failure, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Thursday.
The recall affects certain 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles.
The 12-volt battery may experience degradation and suddenly fail, which can result in a loss of electrical accessories, including the hazard lights, or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash, the US auto safety regulator said.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the 12-volt battery free of charge, it said

Both the Bronco Sport and the Maverick are made in Mexico. It would be interesting to know how that fact fits in with the recall.
🤔
My wife was in a rented Chrysler Pacifica hybrid van las summer when it suddenly died in the middle of the interstate during rush hour. The main hybrid battery was fine, but the 12 volt battery that runs the computer & other systems for the car failed. She ended up getting a Cadillac Escalade as a replacement, so is now spoiled for life.
Have a friend who is a retired EE and network engineer. He bought the small Tesla as a retirement gift to himself. Sitting next to me at a dinner party I had to listen to him-who-should-know-better telling another skeptic how “gasoline powered cars have fire problems too” when asked about EV batteries overheating and combusting. Know I understand that scene in “Animal House” where John Belushi is on his rant, and Otter says, “Forget it He’s on a roll.”
You can’t really argue with someone who is invested. You just have to let them figure it out.
Yeah, yer screwed. My gal will be getting a banged-up, rusted-out 1990 Yugo, and SHE BETTER BE GRATEFUL.
The battries are probably also made in Mexico. I have never heard of a massive 12 volt battery recall like this before.
The behavior of Tesla owners (some here, believe it or not)) is very similar to the behavior of Vegans.
Yeah, the twelve volt batteries are considered consumable items, like tires and brake pads. Must have been a systemic fault that was too big to ignore.
lol
She would really like a Ford Bronco, but with those battery problems, we will have to nix that.
How can you tell that someone is a Vegan?
They will tell you.
How can you tell that someone owns a Tesla?
Ditto...............
How do you know someone is a Notre Dame Law grad?
Say Hello to them.
Who supplied the batteries.just remember FORD didn’t get a bailout like the blowtie crowd did.
