Democrats struggle to pick their message against Trump’s shock-and-awe campaign (mild barf alert)

…But in the hours since Trump’s inauguration, Democrats are struggling to confront the sheer volume of executive orders, pardons, personnel changes and controversial relationships taking shape in the new administration.

In less than two days, the Republican president has moved to end diversity and inclusion programs across the federal government, withdrawn the U.S. from the Paris climate accords, blocked a federal law banning TikTok, and sought to end the constitutional guarantee of birthright citizenship. He has also pardoned the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and granted unprecedented access to some of the world’s richest men, raising questions about his commitment to the working-class voters who enabled his election.

For now, the Democratic establishment is largely focused on the prominent role of billionaires in Trump’s nascent presidency, which follows Biden’s farewell warning about the rise of oligarchs.

The DNC shared talking points with its allies on Tuesday, encouraging them to focus on “Trump’s plans to screw over America.” … Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas…is concerned that the focus on billionaires might not resonate with average voters, who likely didn’t recognize Bezos or other tech executives at the inauguration.

Even under normal circumstances, a transition to a new presidential administration would bring a flurry of executive orders and personnel changes that would be difficult to track. But little is normal about the second incarnation of President Trump, a 78-year-old term-limited outsider at the height of his political power with little regard for political norms or legal consequences.

“Everyone’s reeling and trying to process the information coming at them,” said Joseph Geevarghese, executive director of the progressive advocacy group Our Revolution. “People are not confident that the Democratic Party knows what to do in this moment.”

Democrats must confront “fatigue and exhaustion” within their own ranks that lingers two months after Trump’s victory: “There’s a creeping hopelessness that needs to be fought against.”

I’m going with Steve Bannon on this one. It’s not “shock and awe.” It’s DAYS OF THUNDER!

The Democratic Party in its present form is done as a political entity. Their increasingly socialistic choices over the past several decades have ensured their present position.

There was an article a few days ago that hinted at what you wrote: https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4291177/posts

In Ms. Morganelli’s (a women’s health nurse and lifelong Democrat) living room, the Lehigh Valley ROAR members spoke of leaning on one another even more as some family members drifted away from their politics in recent years: children who had grown enamored with right-wing survivalism or opposition to vaccines during the coronavirus pandemic, or turned on Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris over their support for Israel.

“I lost my liberal, progressive son to Joe Rogan,” one said, as others nodded in sympathy.

They felt alienated from younger Democratic activists who seemed to see fighting Mr. Trump as a lesser priority than matters of ideological purity.

I saw someone do a short interview a few days ago, and he said the news media can’t multi-task issues well. They are really a one-issue entity, have always had one thing to beat up Trump with and can go with that for days on end. But now they can’t figure out what to focus on.

I guess CNN and ABC tried with with Jan 6 pardons, but then they have to be thinking, oh wait, there’s something else, and something else, and something else.

Was your son pumped full of irreversible chemicals or had any body parts looped off? If not, then don't complain about what out side does when we enlighten your children compared to what your side does to kids after years of sexual confusion.

Trump 47’s political shock-and-awe is working exactly as intended, just as it does in actual warfare ...

apparently some Trump advisors wanted to dribble this stuff out in dribs and drabs, but Trump wisely choose the shock-and-awe route ...

“I lost my liberal, progressive son to Joe Rogan”

“Mom, Dad I have something to tell you. It’s kind of hard but here it is: I’m just not gay or transgender. I’m straight. And I’ve been going to the Baptist church and have my eye on a cute girl there. There I said it!”

“Oh no! (sobbing) Where did we go so wrong? We tried so hard to raise you to be a LGBTQI+ progressive! Why? Why?”

“the news media can’t multi-task issues well. They are really a one-issue entity, have always had one thing to beat up Trump with and can go with that for days on end. But now they can’t figure out what to focus on.”

totally correct analysis ... the news media are like house cats that way: they can focus on only one thing at a time ... wave a laser pointer on the floor and a cat will chase it, but wave two laser pointers at the floor and the cat will essentially freeze ... and Trump 47 just waved a hundred laser pointers at the fake stream media ...

“I guess CNN and ABC tried with with Jan 6 pardons, but then they have to be thinking, oh wait, there’s something else, and something else, and something else.” ...

yep: “oh look, there’s a squirrel ... uh, oh, there’s ANOTHER squirrel ... OH NO, YET ANOTHER SQUIRREL” ... and then heads explode ...

How about “We suck and we know it, but we are going to rule you like Il Jong Un rules North Korea. And if enough of you are stupid enough to vote Democrat we can promise you there won’t be those pesky first ten amendments any more.”

“Faiz Shakir, a candidate for DNC chair and a longtime ally of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, said he was shocked by the prominent placement of the billionaires in the nationally televised event, which he said threatened to undermine Trump’s popularity with working-class voters.”

Nice name. Anyway, I’m sure Trump appreciates your concern and advice for him, Faiz.
