Trump is determined to control peace talks himself, the Wall Street Journal notes
NEW YORK, January 22. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has handed his special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg the job of ending the Ukraine conflict in 100 days, the Wall Street Journal reports.
According to the newspaper, "dealmaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin will be far more difficult than Trump promised on the campaign trail, when he said he would end the conflict before he took office."
Trump is determined to control peace talks himself, the Wall Street Journal adds.
Former colleagues of Kellogg say that he cannot be described as an independent figure and has never served as a diplomat, so he is unlikely to take part "in any real negotiations with Russia."
Trump did not rule out on January 7 that resolving the Ukraine issue could take more than 24 hours, a timeframe he had set during his election campaign. Kellogg, in turn, said that he would like to meet a 100-day deadline.
On January 21, Trump told reporters that the US could stop supplying weapons to Ukraine and reiterated his readiness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I'm also betting that "Z" is forced into a contract with Russia to supply gas through their lines...
Z will get a clear path to export...more than what they have now.
A likely manufactured story. This WH is not loaded up with leakers.
The President has already announced a 90 day halt of all foreign aid. So nothing is happening for the next three months, and no matter how hard the Democrats fight to delay Tulsi Gabbard, she will be in place long before 90 days.
After she has been on the job a couple of weeks, the nature of intel briefings to Trump will become accurate. The effect of Ukraine winter will also be fully known by then — but only after she takes her position. He’s still being briefed by Biden’s team so he is not getting accurate info.
Oh and note that Trump is a deal maker. He has to get something from a deal. The obvious thing offered to him is he no longer will have to send $100B per year to Ukraine.
That is the only tangible item of “what do I get out of it” in any deal.
Just divide the stupid place at the Dnieper River and call it a day.
Since Kellogg won’t get anywhere, it will be interesting to see what Trump does on Day 101. Some experts are saying that he’ll hand it off to Europe to deal with - since they really seem to enjoy fighting the Russians.

Isn’t TASS a Russian newspaper? I’m not sure I would give it a lot of credibility. Does anyone really want to bet against The Donald when he says he’ll negotiate a deal?
I’m glad I have TASS to tell me that ending the Ukraine Conflict will be difficult.
There is no Izvestiya in Pravda, and there is no Pravda in Izvestiya.
Sounds like a blatant message to Russia... You’ve got 100 days to get rid of Vlad.
Peace will be worked out between Trump and Putin.
Zelensky is just along for the ride.
Russia will get their land, Ukraine will get permanent security protection
Putin will be boxed-in ... no more warmongering
Unless he wants to start a war with all of NATO ...
Not 1 American Solder will be deployed directly or thru NATO TO YouCrayne.
Send Canucks and French Surrender Monkeys to the eventual DMZ.
How many NATO members contribute to The Ukraine's war efforts today?
Stopping US weapons to Ukraine is tantamount to a Russian victory and take over of the rest of Ukraine. Has anyone told 47 that?
