When Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the Oath Keepers militia, appeared in court in 2023 to be sentenced on sedition charges stemming from the storming of the Capitol, he angrily declared himself a “political prisoner,” echoing language that President Trump has also used to describe those involved with the events of Jan. 6, 2021.
And on Monday, when Mr. Trump commuted Mr. Rhodes’ 18-year prison term to time served, he effectively validated the far-right leader’s belief that his criminal prosecution was a kind of political persecution, as he had defiantly claimed.
Mr. Rhodes, who spent more than a decade running the Oath Keepers before his arrest in 2022, was in the Federal Correctional Institute in Cumberland, Md., when his grant of clemency was handed down. It remained unclear when he might be freed.
While Mr. Rhodes never entered the Capitol on Jan. 6, prosecutors said he oversaw a large contingent of Oath Keepers as they concocted “a plan for an armed rebellion to shatter a bedrock of democracy” — the peaceful transfer of power after the 2020 election. Prosecutors also said he was on the Capitol grounds as military-style “stacks” of his militia’s members made their way into the building and other armed members stood ready as a “quick reaction force” at a hotel in Virginia in case things went wrong.

He wasn’t even at the Capitol...
By the way this was definitely one of the most egregious cases and miscarriages of justice.
20 years for being in a hotel? He wasn’t even in DC!
Yeah I know it’s crazy when you look at it
He was convicted of this too .
Goes to show you..
BRAVO!
I thought Trump would pardon the “mostly peaceful” protestors that got caught up in a riot, and commute the sentences of the handful of people who were convicted of more serious crimes.
These pardons and commutations are in keeping with giving Tik Tok 75 days to clean up their act, so people who want can use their app, and we don’t have to worry about China getting our private information; and, with opening up the files on the assassinations of JFK, RFK and MLK.
From the top of Mount McKinley, let freedom ring.
To the bottom of the swamp known as DC, let freedom ring.
Trump is on a roll
Proclamation 179
Signed by President Andrew Johnson on December 25, 1868
Granted unconditional amnesty to all participants in the rebellion
Restored all rights, privileges, and immunities under the Constitution
This was a REAL Insurection1
“In an interview with USA Today, Rhodes’s ex-wife, Tasha Adams, said she fears the safety of herself and her six children might be at risk should Stewart be free from behind bars.”
Tasha was going to run as a Democrat for a legislative office in Montana.
There is an even one that got a fair trial.
I pray Rhoads can restore his family. Losing them was worse than conviction and prison.
So, he was convicted for leading a group that had more Feds than members??? Hmmmm.
EC
I agree. The feds got Rhodes own son to turn traitor and testify against his father. Sad! I hope the Proud Boys Leaders are also pardoned!
Too bad that he didn’t murder two FBI agents. Then Biden would have commuted his sentence a day earlier.
I am more interested in Tarrio. Was his sentence commuted? I want to see Judge Beryl Howell have a stroke over it
Yes. He got a commutation but not sure when he’s being released
They said there was party scheduled in Miami last night
Well he was at the capitol I believe but never entered the building and all of the Oath keepers left their weapons out of town at their hotel. The Oath keepers who entered the building helped the police.
I’m just thankful they all got released. I think Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit is going to interview Rhoades today. Can’t wait to hear it.
